Brian, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
As everyone knows food and wine go together. In fact, they evolved and grew together like siblings. It’s heard to imagine a nice Italian meal without a glass of Chianti. So the idea of bringing together a vineyard and farm makes perfect sense and of course it has been done before. However, our unique twists is that one owner is a Master Farmer and the other is a Master Sommelier. This means we bring an unparalled level of passion and practical know-how to the project.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hamilton Pool Vineyards & Farms showcases a meeting of two of the very best things in life: food and wine! Established as a new venture between a local farmer and sommelier in the fall of 2023, we strive to illustrate the symbiotic relationship between growing food for the dinner table and growing grapes for the wine glass. As the old saying goes we believe what grows together goes together and we are fortunate to partner with local schools, dairy farms, livestock ranges, and schools to help cement a community focused business that strives to bring excellent local ingredients and Texas wine to the greater Austin area. We are also an event space with seasoned, professional coordinators. The right entertainment to give your event the right amount of magic. Breathtaking floral arrangements and bouquets. And refined wine country cuisine. And of course, perfect wine pairings., The venue has a lot of options. Outdoors you’ll find an expansive lawn surrounded by vines, a beautiful patio with stool seating, cozy firepits, outdoor games, and even an intimate venue setting among our vines. Or take a small event inside in the Tasting Room.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
We love our clients and primarily foster loyalty by giving not only excellent but personally currated service. We also stay connected to them though social media, email newsletter, and by keeping an active charitable presence in the community.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
In a way becoming a sommelier was a side hustle for me since I took the educational program for fun. It was only after doing a releated event that the President of the International Sommelier Guild personally recruited me to come teach for the company. At the time I was more focused on my journalism career. After teaching off and on for a few years, the oppurtunity to purchase the winery came to me and I jumped right in though previously I had never expressed any interest in making wine. I had only studied it, taught about it and of course drank it.
