We were lucky to catch up with Brian Pruett recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brian, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
My Pharma to fitness transition! My career started out in sales as a pharma rep in corporate America. Now I’m a holistic coach focusing on fitness, nutrition, mindset and lifestyle with my clients through my online program, BFIT. Before creating BFIT, I was settling for less in my day job. I felt like I wasn’t reaching my God given potential because I wasn’t becoming more me and maximizing my gifts. My passion is to coach, encourage and inspire men to become more of who they are – and not just for them but for the people they love the most!
So, I finally decided to go ALL IN on myself (body mind and spirit) and create my program. I realized I had a lot more to offer than just fitness and nutrition. Now, my focus is sharing my gift with the world around me to empower people to live their fullest, healthiest life. When you become more you, everybody around you benefits!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into fitness, coaching, nutrition, and lifestyle coaching out of my passion for living life to the fullest. I played D1 college baseball but after I gave it up, I lost my sense of purpose to stay fit and healthy. I had an identity crisis because I was no longer an “athlete..” So I felt lost and very unmotivated.. Then I woke up and said ENOUGH. I was done settling. I wanted to become more of who I was. Giving is way better than receiving, so I made it my purpose in life to inspire, uplift and empower people around me to do the same! I use simple but powerful workouts through my BFIT app and also personal coaching and accountability to help guys get fit for life. In addition to that, I dump tons of value on mindset and mental fitness. I have a spiritual component that is optional for guys who care or are curious about the deeper purpose to their lives. I have the pleasure of having a team of two coaches with me in BFIT who do the exact same thing to transform lives.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Genuine passion and desire to see people succeed. If you truly care about people and want to see them succeed, it can often make up for limited knowledge or lack of experience. Ie. you can be certified with dozens of degrees but real transformation happens on the human relational level.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Doubling down on my strengths. Finding my authentic voice and speaking my thoughts more often. Being real and sharing my experiences and wisdom gained from it. Lastly, focusing on always adding value to people. I believe when you take care of people, people take care of you.
