We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brian L Watson II a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian L, thanks for joining us today. Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
During Covid my wife and I welcomed our beautiful baby girl in 2019. Months later, we both lost our jobs due to COVID. I was approached with an opportunity and my business partner and I took the risk and Hip Hop X was born. I was terrified at first because it was something new.
With patience and consistency Hip Hop X athletes were being noticed by winning competitions and getting booked for local events and movies! We want to express that Hip Hop is fun, bold and a lifestyle and we as a company want to continue to share that with the world.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Brian L. Watson II is co owner, artistic director, choreographer, and entrepreneur at Hip Hop X living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele was social media platforms and advocating for Hip Hop X at different events throughout the city.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We built our audience by creating and sharing videos of the kids learning hand and eye coordination, rhythm and movements. If you’re just starting to build your social media presence I suggest you make content every day or week that you can!
