We recently connected with Brian Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
Taking vacations are a must for any full time or part time entrepreneur. As the old saying goes, you can’t be good for anyone else if you aren’t good to yourself. Vacations provide the recharge and refuel time necessary to be able to focus on your business and come up with innovative ways to grow. Vacations are even more vital if you have family. As a photographer, vacations sometimes provide inspiration for a shoot set up, or allow me to discover great places to shoot at. That’s an added bonus to spending quality time with my family.
As an entrepreneur you can step away from the business for self care. That’s what vacations are. The business will still be there when you get back. If necessary, find a few things you can do for your business while on vacation such as light bookkeeping or moderate planning. Your mental and physical health will thank you for stepping away periodically.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Brian and I am the owner of B. Jones Studios. I minored in photography in undergrad while completing my degree in paralegal studies. My college experiences allowed me to explore photography and appreciate freezing moments in time. I opened my first studio in 2016 in Detroit, MI. We specialized in portrait and brand photography helping local businesses carefully hone their images. We closed during the pandemic like so many other businesses. In 2023, we relocated to Arkansas and opened our studio in Conway where we focus primarily on portrait photography and some videography services. it is important to us to help families document those special moments in life, and it brings us great joy to help capture those moments that our clients can look back on.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
When I opened my first studio I used my own money for everything. When I relocated and opened in another state I secured business funding before opening the studio. Most of the equipment I already I had from my previous studio. The funding has been important, particularly in growing in a new area.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of clients for me has been social media. Being a visual platform really helps as we are a visual based business. The second best source of clients has been google and client referrals.
