Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brian Hampton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brian, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I’d say learning the craft is something that came through trial and experience. I’ve always had an innate creative sense since I was a kid. In reference to my experiences in media journalism, I just started writing and publishing my work through my blog in 2015 and then it was recognized by other outlets whereby I was asked to be a contributor. I’ve worked with editors, creative mentors and journalists who critique my work and help sharpen what I do. As a brand influencer, its really something I was doing way before it was recognized by brands. They give me their expectations and I create a look concept around the brand product. Much like that of a creative director.
I’ve learned that you have to put yourself around people who do what you do. Creatives who can pull you up and inspire you to be your best.

Brian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a lifestyle media journalist and brand influencer based in Atlanta. I cover an array of subjects revolving around menswear and all things lifestyle. Additionally, I provide media coverage for local film festivals, restaurants and innovative brands. As well as contributions for AE Networks & Hulu. I can say that I have prepared for this by being consistent in networking, writing and branding Dress Like A Gent (DLAG) both locally and in various cities beyond Georgia. Basically, I’m always out participating in events that go along with my vision; which has in turn, caused the brand to grow beyond what I could ever have imagined. My outlet gives people a fresh look at innovate styles and simply merges with things that I love to do to provide a sort of guide to my readership.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is seeing your work tell a story in a way in which people engage and want to be a part. I love being able to become the narrator in a sense for people’s brands or businesses and to help push their narrative beyond their immediate scope of influence.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I have always believed in organic growth. I’ve been doing this since 2015 and the followers that I’ve acquired have come about by me being true to who I am and continuing to build by fostering creative business relationships and collaborating. I have always made sure that what I post is post-worthy and high-quality. I want everything on my page to make a statement and tell a story. I would encourage anyone just starting out to not measure their value based on numbers or likes, but to continue to create quality content that will in time speak for itself.
