We were lucky to catch up with Brian Greenblatt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brian, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I had always been interested in visual arts, but never had the medium really growing up to creativity execute my ideas outside dabbling briefly in high-school with film and darkrooms. After graduating college in 2012 I had heavily been involved in the music industry in Philadelphia and was working with events in pre-production but I found myself wanting to do things while working the event so I decided to go back to my roots in film photography and picked up a camera and since then its been history. I had moved to Colorado in January of 2015 and then started working at a music venue and from there just shot everything I physically could. From there, Dark Matter was born and my professional career in media blossomed and I quickly became one of the most known photographers in the music/portrait scene. From there I found my absolute love for landscapes and nature and started my journey traveling the world/country to capture the beauty of this world through my lens.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a creative coordinator, photographer, media specialist originally from the Philadelphia/New Jersey area! Recently worked in and lived in Colorado since 2015 until moving to the Los Angeles area in 2020 pre-pandemic. I provide photography services ranging the entire spectrum of the craft whether its live events, weddings, portraits, landscapes and much much more! I also provide a range of videography as well as consultations for marketing/media & and business strategy. What sets me apart from other photographers in the industry is my dedication to my craft and my strive to make my clients feel as comfortable and happy as possible with the end results. I strive to mix my creativity but also my communication skills together to create an amazing end result for all my clients.
Definitely what I’m most proud about in my career is the end result and end feeling that I’m able to provide to my clients so that are as satisified as possible with the experience that I’ve given them. Positive experiences are so important in this field as there has always been a dark looming cloud over my specific industry with artists/photographers that leave a bad experience with their clients due to lack of empathy, compassion and overall communication.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of my career & artist is hearing how happy my clients are with the end result & experience, the confidence and happiness that I’m able to provide through my art is absolutely the most rewarding aspect whether its of a photo I took of someone, or a photo of a beautiful landscape that really touched another persons soul. It really makes everything I do and all the hard work I do worth to see how just a photo can really impact another person life.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice
I think NFT’s are a really interesting subject. I think right now its a bit of a grey area in the sense of people really understanding the use of them and what they mean yet. I the realm of photography they’re absolutely blowing up on platforms like Twitter, where its giving worth and value to unknown artists that are creating absolute masterpieces of work.
