We recently connected with Brian Chandler and have shared our conversation below.
Brian, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
part of the fascinating thing about Music and the art of creating it is it’s so vastly different for every person. I can remember when I was a little kid beginning to get into creating I was self-taught and my methods were by no means following any kind of Music theory. through the years I was able to grow in my understanding of music through YouTube and other things, but I would still say I have a different approach than someone who is professionally taught. I think it’s a double edged sword because sometimes I think it can make my sound a little unique and different. Then there are times I can tell I still have a lot to learn. You never really stop learning the art of music.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Georgia based musician who sings, producers, mixes and masters all my music myself. I create Electronic Pop music that can dip its toes into other genres of indie rock and house music. I have a throw the whole kitchen sink approach to making music and really lean into what I’m feeling in that moment. I got into music making from a very young age. It wasn’t very good but I kept at it. I still have a lot of growing I need to make but I am beginning to make more of the sounds I desired to make as a kid. You can find my music on all streaming services under my name Brian Chandler.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
definitely finishing a song. There is always something so rewarding about working hard and trying to convey an emotion and putting it all together in a compact song. The hours upon hours and days it takes to make this compact three minute song there’s a certain beauty to it.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I think this goes for anyone who creates. When you’re creating, it’s so important to go back and remember why you’re doing it in the first place. To express your creativity. Think back on the first time you realized you enjoyed creating were you thinking about the money? No, you were thinking about how much you enjoyed creating and how rewarding it was.
