Brian, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Growing up with entrepreneurial parents has been a defining aspect of my life, shaping my values and influencing my career choices in numerous ways. Their inspiring journey has instilled in me the importance of creativity, hard work, and independence.
From a young age, my parents encouraged me to think outside the box and explore my passions. They believed that creativity was a catalyst for success and constantly nurtured my imagination. Whether it was building elaborate structures for school art projects or collaborating on unique, custom Halloween costumes, they always celebrated my creativity and pushed me to embrace my uniqueness.
Witnessing my parents’ unwavering commitment to their businesses taught me the value of hard work. They never shied away from long hours and sacrifices to achieve their goals. Their work ethic was contagious, and it taught me the importance of perseverance and dedication in everything I pursued. Their approach to challenges as opportunities for growth taught me not to fear failure but to view it as a stepping stone towards success.
One of the most impactful experiences was when I expressed interest in starting a small business during my teenage years. My parents didn’t discourage me with doubts or concerns; instead, they supported and guided me through the process. They offered valuable advice on market research, budgeting, and customer engagement. Even though my venture didn’t become a huge success, the lessons I learned about entrepreneurship and resilience during that time were invaluable.
Moreover, my parents’ emphasis on maintaining a healthy work-life balance left a lasting impression on me. Despite their demanding schedules, they always made time for family activities and cherished moments together. Their commitment to both their work and family life taught me that success wasn’t just about professional accomplishments but also about creating meaningful relationships and treasuring moments with loved ones.
Growing up with entrepreneurial parents also fueled my sense of independence. They encouraged me to take ownership of my decisions and learn from both successes and failures. This sense of autonomy has been crucial in my personal and professional growth, enabling me to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
In conclusion, my parents’ entrepreneurial journey has had a profound impact on my life and career. Their nurturing of creativity, emphasis on hard work, and encouragement of independence have been guiding principles that continue to shape my decisions and actions. They have not only inspired me to pursue my entrepreneurial aspirations but also provided me with the essential tools to thrive in an ever-changing world. I am grateful for the valuable life lessons they’ve imparted, and I strive to honor their legacy by embodying the spirit of creativity, hard work, and independence in all aspects of my life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, I am Brian Chaaban, a passionate furniture designer and sculptor based in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. Although my professional journey initially led me down the path of business management and human resources, my life took a transformative turn when after graduating from college, I began working for an esteemed furnishings gallery in LA. Surrounded by the beauty of luxurious interior designs at this gallery, I found myself deeply inspired to create a line of luxury furnishings and home accessories of my own.
Driven by this newfound passion, I embarked on a creative endeavor, prototyping and eventually launching my line of nature-inspired luxury furnishings. What began as a humble vision soon flourished into a diverse collection, encompassing accessories, lighting, case pieces, upholstery, and captivating sculptures. Each piece is a testament to the seamless harmony between contemporary design and the enchanting allure of nature I am inspired by.
About two years after releasing my collection, I am proud to say that my work has reached the hands of galleries and art enthusiasts across major markets in the United States and international destinations, including Australia, Dubai, and the UK. I take pride in infusing each creation with meticulous craftsmanship and environmental consciousness, using reclaimed and sustainable materials whenever possible. As I continue to explore the endless beauty of nature through my artistic expressions, I remain dedicated to inspiring others and leaving a lasting impact on the world of luxury furnishings and interior design.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I would say that the most rewarding quality of being a self-supporting creative is that I am able to have to creative expression in just about every decision I make for my company. I enjoy all aspects of prototyping, producing, sourcing, branding and marketing – all of which I have creative license on the process.
Considering most of the works I produce are custom and made to order, I also really value being about to collaborate with other interior designers and artisans. Seeing how my pieces are included in the end product of a beautiful interiors project is highly rewarding.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by a passion for creating unique pieces that blend both functionality, and aesthetics. My goal is to create designs that enrich people’s homes, evoke emotions, and foster harmony with the environment. Sustainability, collaboration, and leaving a lasting impact on the design industry are also essential aspects of my mission.
