We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brian Bell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, one thing many business owners consider is donating a percentage of sales or profits to an organization or cause. We’d love to hear your thoughts and the story behind how and why you chose the cause or organization you donate to.
Yes, we donate a potion of every project’s proceeds to animal shelters and rescue foundations. It’s something we’ve done since the very beginning of Rescue Media. The name itself is a nod to our mission – not just to help clients tell meaningful stories, but to do some good in the process.
Animal welfare is a cause that’s deeply personal to me. I’ve seen firsthand how underfunded and overwhelmed many rescue organizations are, including through an organization my sister operates that rescues strays in Mexico, providing housing, vaccinations, and spay/neuter services, and brings them to the U.S. for adoption. Her dedication opened my eyes to how much need there is and how far even a small contribution can go, and supporting organizations like hers through our business felt like a natural extension of who we are – creatives with compassion and a sense of responsibility.
This commitment has resonated both with our community and with many of our clients, who appreciate working with a company that gives back. It’s a small way to make a difference, and it reminds us that the work we do can have impact beyond the screen.

Brian, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Brian Bell, the founder of Rescue Media, a video production studio based in Alexandria, Virginia. We help organizations tell their stories through high-quality video content – from brand films and promotional campaigns to livestreamed events and internal communications.
My career in video production started back in high school, filming skate videos for my friends (I was never great on the board myself, so I stuck behind the camera). That passion stuck with me. After college, I got my start as a segment producer for public television, then moved into agency work at a small production company. Over time, I dove deep into the world of live streaming, working with a large financial organization where I helped manage and scale their virtual events.
From there, I produced video content for a major automotive brand and eventually built out the multimedia department and production studio for an international professional association. That experience – blending creative work with process development and team leadership – set the foundation for what would become Rescue Media.
Today. Rescue Media offers full-service video production: scripting, filming, editing, animation, livestreaming, and post-production. We work with clients across industries who need their message to land with clarity and impact. What sets us apart is our ability to combine creative polish with business-driven, technical precision. We run lean, work fast, and prioritize storytelling that actually moves people – not just visually, but emotionally.
One thing I’m especially proud of is the trust we’ve earned from clients who come back again and again, knowing we’ll deliver sharp, on-brand content – often with tight turnarounds and high stakes. I’m also proud of the mission behind the business: a portion of every project’s proceeds is donated to animal rescue efforts, a cause that’s personal to me and my family.
At the heart of Rescue Media is a simple belief: the best stories are the ones that connect. We’re here to help you craft those stories – thoughtfully, professionally. and with a little heart behind the camera.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
For me, client relationships are everything. We keep in touch by being human first – before anything else. That means showing appreciation, checking in just to check in (not just when we want something), and staying genuinely interested in their work and wins outside of our projects together.
Of course, the foundation is always delivering high-quality work and making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. We communicate clearly (and early), meet deadlines, and stay flexible when things shift – as they always do. I also believe in just being fun to work with. That doesn’t mean casual or careless – it means showing up with good energy, problem-solving with a positive attitude, and making clients feel like they’re in good hands.
Ultimately. I want people to enjoy working with us, not just because we’re good at what we do – but because we care.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
One idea that’s really stuck with me is from the book, “10x is Easier than 2x” by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy. It’s the concept that making a leap – focusing on transformative growth instead of incremental change – actually simplifies decision-making and forces clarity around what really matters.
That mindset helped me shift Rescue Media from being a freelancer-for-hire operation to building a company with a clear identity, structure, and mission. It’s also guided how I hire, how I choose which clients to take on, and how I think about scaling: not by doing more of everything, but by doing more of the right things – and letting go of what no longer fits.
