We recently connected with BRIAN BATES and have shared our conversation below.
BRIAN, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
Perseverance. Betting on myself to make the decision to relocate to San Diego for my family. It’s been an uphill battle but with prayer and the universe aligning with me, I’ve been able to persevere and get better every day. Just maintain integrity, faith and spirituality on point. Never give up! Keep marching to the sound of your own drum by any means necessary.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My mission in craft beer started 4 years ago when I arrived to San Diego. I was huge on the different styles of craft beer, the culture, and the overall influence in the industry. I wanted to trail blaze my own path, which is why I started differentiating myself on social media. Creating videos “reels” as they call them now, but I wanted to showcase craft beer in a different light than just a still photo. My goal was to create “craft beer commercials”. At the time the niche had zero influencers doing what I was doing. I love how the industry has evolved, with more influencers stepping it up to showcase craft beer in a bigger spotlight.
Starting off as a beertender, and soon after managing a brewery definitely shed even more light on my passion for the craft. Being able to teach, showcase to other individuals how important the craft beer industry is.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Just showing integrity daily. I believe you have to stand for something or fall for anything. Stay true to your beliefs and always put in the extra work for your own well being. Work hard, and it spills over to other individuals seeing that. I always say “pay me $1 I will give you $100 worth of effort”. It’s not demeaning for me personally, it’s just how I have to be for myself. You never know what opportunities will come your way by showing work ethic.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I would definitely say social media. Just the networking aspect as a whole. You have to be willing to put the effort in, roll up your sleeves and continue with your mission system that you’ve created for yourself.
