Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brialle Ringer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brialle , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Before I was leading retreats, facilitating group programs, and coaching clients doing what I love — I was burnt out, graduating with my degree in Social Work, and overworking myself.
I spent years chasing accolades and people-pleasing before I got really clear about my unique gifts and sacred service in the world.
Sure, I was doing meaningful and important work that I was good at as a youth homelessness researcher and advocate – but I felt unfulfilled.
I filled my schedule with twelve hour work days several days a week, that left me so burnt out that I literally crashed. I was so disconnected that I drove straight into a pole.
My first thought during the accident: “I don’t have time for this! I have grad school applications to finish!!” 😅
Not my well-being, my to-do list.
THAT was my wake up call. I knew it was time to make a radical change.
But at the time I was really scared of the unknown.
Scared I wouldn’t be “successful” on another path.
I had just spent the last four years building a career in Social Work. I was well recognized in my community with several awards, I had scholarships to Master’s degree programs, job offers, and an agreement as a McNair Scholar to go straight to graduate school and obtain my doctorate degree.
I felt like if I shifted, I’d be letting people down.
But I also knew that if I didn’t, I would continue the cycle of exhaustion and dissatisfaction.
Deep down, I sensed that I could create social change in a more authentic and aligned way. So I followed the breadcrumbs of my intuition, leaned into my own transformation and healing… and several years later here I am.
I’ve found a way to beautifully integrate my dedication to social justice, racial equity, veganism, wellness and healing into an embodied expression of my sacred service.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am an internationally recognized wellness educator, somatic healer, breathwork alchemist, and embodied leadership coach passionate about supporting change makers feel greater ease, joy, and alignment in their lives and work.
Several years ago, I shifted out of a burnt out career in Social Work trusting she could contribute to social change in a way that felt more authentic and sustainable. She’s now found a way to beautifully integrate her dedication to social justice, racial equity, veganism, wellness and healing into an embodied expression of her sacred service.
Having spent years engaged with advocates across sectors including youth education, homelessness, and animal advocacy — she’s noticed a consistent theme of disembodied leadership impacting the effectiveness and success of our movement for collective liberation.
When we show up exhausted, misaligned and disconnected, it can cause more harm than good to ourselves, our communities, and the causes we care for. Disembodied leadership contributes to conflict between colleagues, diminished health and well-being, burnout, and overall ineffective service. However, when we show up embodying our wholeness, holistically well, and genuinely excited about how we are here to support the greater good — the impact ripples outward to every area of our lives and work.
I cultivates deeply transformative experiences in the form of community healing sessions, breathwork and embodiment classes, virtual courses, retreats, and more. In these experiences, she guides participants to get out of the mind and into the body, release what’s been repressed, feel it to heal it, and come home to who they truly are.
I take a holistic approach to support her clients, drawing from her degree in Social Work, certifications in Yoga, Integrative Energy Healing, and Plant Based Nutrition, a decade of facilitation expertise, and her experience supporting BIPOC animal advocates with community building and leadership opportunities as the Director of The Global Majority Caucus at APEX Advocacy.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2020 during the pandemic and at the height of uprisings for racial justice, I was called to create an initiative called The Black Women’s Healing Haven. The program supported Black women going vegan and healing holistically, and with the help of grants and donors, it was completely free to participate.
We reached over 800 Black women from 16 different countries in the last two years and collaborated with incredible nutritionists, healers, and wellness educators to offer comprehensive and unique workshops to inspire holistic health and wellness. Notable guests included Tricia Hersey of The Nap Ministry, Chef Ahki, Dr. Breeze Harper aka Sistah Vegan and more.
The program has been very successful, however I recently decided to close the chapter on the Black Women’s Healing Haven. The decision was initially inspired by a question posed to me at an animal rights conference: If your organization didn’t exist, who would continue the work?
It was essentially to get us thinking about where efforts in the movement are being duplicated and to consider what it is that we do better than anyone else. When I got to thinking about programs that exists to support Black women going vegan — there are a number of organizations that are doing amazing work including Trayce McQuirter’s 10 Million Black Vegan Women program, AfroVegan Society, The Black Health Academy, and more. I realized they have a much larger capacity to do what I was attempting to achieve, and that I’d be better off partnering with them than trying to build my own organizational infrastructure.
When I reflected on what it is that I do better than anyone else, where my testimonials really shine through, it’s my ability to build community, to make people feel seen and heard, and create transformative healing spaces where folks are moved to tears as they get in touch with the wisdom within and come home to who they truly are. THAT’S what I want to be spending my time on. So even though I’m certified in Plant Based Nutrition, raised over $50k in funding to facilitate The Black Women’s Healing Haven, and had great success — it was time for me to let go and make space for my life’s work.
Veganism is still a major value that underpins my life and business and I remain highly involved in the movement. What I see now is that my gifts as a healer are deeply needed to support the often overwhelmed activists who are fighting for animal liberation. I do this by offering community healing and workplace wellness workshops for organizations to help prevent burnout, foster resilience, and retain the brilliant advocates in the animal advocacy movement.
I envision a world where changemakers do the work they love, without abandoning themselves. Showing up whole, worthy, and well so that their service is sustainable, and we as a collective are able to achieve our ancestors wildest dreams, birthing new realities rooted in love and liberation for all (while having fun along the way!).
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Showing up authentically on social media and using short-form videos like IG Reels and TikToks has been an incredibly helpful tool to build my audience online and gain client leads. During the pandemic on New Years 2021, I had a TikTok video that went viral and reached nearly a million views. I went from 2k followers 40k in under a month. This massive influx of eyes on my work led to new clients, brand collaborations, and more.
I created short videos with captivating video clips and voiceovers to tell stories about my holistic health and healing journey, educate about yoga, energy healing, and veganism — and this style of content creation really allowed my personality to shine through to make meaningful connections with my audience.
