We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bria Walker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Bria, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I definitely wish I started my creative career sooner. I tried many different creations before landing on my natural talent.
Bria, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello! I like to think of myself as ‘The Fan Fairy’ who comes along to sprinkle a little joy into your day. I custom make handheld fans that are to your liking. They can compliment your outfit as an accessory, your personality, your favorite sports team etc. They also double as a “hat” because they are just big enough to block your head/face from the sun.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is second guessing myself. As soon as I just went for it I believe my confidence grew in my creations, it shows in my personality when I do talk to people about them and it draws people in to want to know more.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is shopping for the fabric honestly. It is so liberating and I fall in love with it all over again. When I put what’s in my brain onto fabric…there are really no words to describe that feeling.
