Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bria Tate. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Bria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I have known that I wanted to be in a creative field since I was ten years old. I started out loving art class, and then I started to draw when I was in the fifth grade. That is when I decided I wanted to be a fashion designer, but that changed a while after (trying to be more practical). In college, I initially went for a degree that I didnt love and chose to become an art major. I practiced all forms of art: painting, film photography, drawing, sculpting. I felt like I was coming back to myself with art. I took a break from art after graduation, but I have been getting back into art and the art scene for the last two years which led me to pivot to creative direction and getting back into fashion and slowly creating my own art pieces again.
Bria, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well, my name is Bria (Elyce) or ClevR. I am originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, but I have been in the Nashville area for over 10 years. My desire and need for creativity and authenticity in my everyday life is what drove me back into the art space. I knew that I was a creative, but I didn’t know which avenue would actually fit me and speak to my soul, so I decided to go back to my roots which was in art and fashion. I wanted to be in a career that would allow me to merge both of them together and that’s when I decided I wanted to be a creative director for photo shoots and be a fashion stylist. I love creating scenes and creative sets that allow me to also have control over what a model wears and the emotions that can be evoked from different sets.
In your view, what can society do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think the best thing that society could do to support artists is to do just that, support! As creative, we love when people want to invest in our work, but investing doesn’t always equate to monetary means. It costs nothing to share, like, or comment on our content because a lot of of what we do only gets recognition when it is seen. So just interact with our content and if you can afford to get a commission piece or book with us, please do!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely! My short-term goal and mission is to create a space where I can be myself authentically and embrace what I believe beauty to be in whatever form it comes in. I want myself and my clients to walk away feeling like the best versions of ourselves and to feel safe in their own skin. My long-term goals would be to create a legacy that pushes for creative and financial freedom for myself, my team and upcoming artists and creatives.
