We were lucky to catch up with Bria Seymour recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Bria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my business is based off of one of my siblings, which is my older sister her name is Brittany Seymour. Brittany was called home in 2017, as I journeyed through this life without her which has truly been extremely hard for me, so when I started my brand which was in 2021 I decided to name my brand the Brittany and Bria selections, Which is also abbreviated as ‘bnb’ Her absence has helped me grow my brand day by day.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I become a fashion designer so randomly not knowing that this was a creative skill that I can take to the next level. I sewed a tee-shirt into a dress infront of my companion, which led to me getting a sewing machine on Christmas in 2019 because he was so amazed at the fact that I can sew with my bare hands, and at the time I was just as shocked as he was. I was a hairstylist in 2018-2020 and as I learned how to work my sewing machine self taught lesson, at that moment in 2019-2020 I used those years to help develop my sewing skills and decided to change careers. When it comes to my creativity I am all about sexiness, I express myself through the clothes that I make. I’m into see through and 4 way stretch fabrics, soft cottons that hugs that body figure.
Discipline which also goes hand in hand with consistency has been extremely hard for me throughout my journey, the fact that life throws many unexpected obstacles onto your path, the key to succeeding in this industry is to keep going no matter what obstacles may come about. And I will say just as singers and other music artist have writters block, as creatives we may all experience some type of blockages in our paths and that is okay, which helps us to take the time to type into another dimension of our creativity.
The problems that I solve for any of my clients that has ever had a problem with sizing or shipment has always been either a refund or free appareal, because I truly believe in having good history and providing amazing customer service to every single one of clients I am willing to work with them on every level, because I love seeing women in my brand not only that but I am even more satisfied when I see a woman extremely happy in something that I’ve made and she’s pleased with the outcome of what she’s purchased.
I am most proud of my creativity the clothing that I make, I want my potential clients, followers and fans to know that I work really hard to provide them with the clothing that they desire to have from my brand. And that I am one person who works alone and create every single fit on my own.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Putting myself out there, doing consistent local pop up shops, and learning to stay consistent on social media was such an amazing way to grow my audience, posting content, having a set schedule is extremely important, also me wearing my brand because I realized every single time I was wearing a piece from my brand when I step out theirs always someone interested in what I was wearing which made it easy for me to advertise at that very moment. Engaging with my audience, don’t ever think that you are too good to engage with your audience because that’s how you build relationships with the people that are choosing to shop with you and support your brand.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
That people in this industry will take your ideas which is your creative designs and run with them, which I’ve never been offended by because it’s just a replica of the original pieces that I’ve created which helped me know that I was doing something right when it comes to my creative ideas.
