Bria , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

What I believe it takes to be successful is consistency and commitment. Consistency gives you the drive you need to keep going. I continue to pursue my goals everyday even on the days I don’t feel like it. I stay committed because I know the success will follow in the long run. As long as you stay consistent and committed you will accomplish all your desires! It is very important that you believe in yourself and manifest the life you vision because everything starts with a thought.

Bria , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Bria Morrell and I am the founder of Bri’sBeautyKey and Business In Beauty . I am a 19 year old makeup artist, hairstylist and mentor located in Long Island New York. I began my journey in business at the age of 13 offering makeup services. I then grew a love for hair so 2 years later at the age of 15 I then decided to add hair extensions to my website.

I would say I was too young at the time to know exactly why I entered this industry but what I can say is that I love everything about it. In the beginning of my career I was unaware that there were people who actually offered these services for money. I started off by servicing my family and friends for free. It was truly just something I loved doing. I used to bring my makeup case to school in eighth grade and I would commit my whole lunch period to dolling my friends up. Something about seeing a smile on their face warmed me up inside. The main thing I am most proud about is finding the courage to continue in this field even while being overlooked because of my age. I am currently in business with my mother and our salon is called SB Blowout Bar that we run together that people absolutely enjoy. My ultimate goal is to help people find themselves and live in their truth so that’s why I started Business in beauty. I love helping young women like myself understand that loving yourself from the inside can make all the difference on the outside. I launched Business in beauty a month ago and I have so much in store. Bri’sBeautyKey and Business In Beauty will be nationwide .

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is being welcoming. Some stylist have the tendency of making their clients feel uncomfortable which could chase clients away. During my time with my clientI like to ask them general questions like what is your horoscope? Do you have any siblings ? What are you getting your hair or makeup done for? Etc. Clients love a place where they can feel safe, be themselves And not get judged I educate my clients on the process of the service and the at home care regimen necessary to make their hair last. Most of my customers cover their hair with extensions but I still stress to them the importance of taking care of your natural hair under the protective styles !

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

What I think helped build my reputation in this market was my confidence and transparency. Everyone in my area knows me as the girl who’s been doing makeup and hair since she could walk. When I was in 8th grade I decided to cut all my hair off as a message to girls that hair doesn’t make you, what makes you is your heart and what you decide to do with it. I’ve always been the girl who dressed up, kept her hair up to par and my nails sharp. Being in the beauty industry forces you to keep yourself together because if you don’t people will side-eye you because it is somewhat false advertisement. I accept any client from anywhere with opened arms and for that they keep coming back!
