Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bria Lancaster. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
If I could go back in time … I would for sure start my business earlier …
It’s human nature to feel as though we need to prepare or be as prepared as possible walking into something new or unfamiliar. The truth is ….. you never really are prepared until you just START.
I started my business when I was 27. I wanted to find a way to secure more income but have more time to be a mother. Living check to check just was not cutting it. As a new mom… your very hands on . Aubre is my only child so the changes for me were astronomical. I’ve always had multiple sources of income leaving one job to head to the next . So having to slow down and not having as much control over what I could contribute to my household really bothered me…
I have ALWAYS had a passion for design . My family owns a newspaper so I found myself finding a passion for digital designing.
When I started my business there are so many things I didn’t even have on my radar that I later found out I needed to keep progressing in the right direction..
Problems you don’t even know need solving until you make an attempt ….

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy has been taking My audience on the journey with me !!! Allowing them behind the scenes … vlogging photoshoots … making sure I’m recording when designing so I can later create reels and other content…
I think it inspires and motivates people … like “ I want that for my business too” … it’s also a great way to showcase my large range of services.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Consistency… I am constantly posting projects and my latest work keeping me on the top of peoples mind.
90% of my clients come from referrals… of the 90% about 70% say it’s due to my consistently in posting … “I was recommended a few people but you seem to be the most consistent… “ so many prospective clients have told me stories of choosing not to more forward with other designers because the simply could not find examples of their work…
To consistently post you must consistently create content … this not only helps you market but allows you to work on your craft.. it always helps you lock in on WHO your audience even is so that your post more effectively.
