We recently connected with Bria Harris and have shared our conversation below.
Bria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
How I got my first client was by building a platform and a portfolio of me creating looks on myself. My first client was a family/friend. She always knew I was great at makeup and finally trusted to give her what she wanted. That was my first time receiving my first dollars for my business. Back then I didn’t really know my worth and charged less than what I was putting out product wise. After my first client it was only up from there. I released my progress and started charging for what I actually loved to do and for what I am putting into my clients. As a luxury makeup artist, it can get very expense. But I poured into my business and now I have clients that have become close friends. In which they support me in so many ways. I love all my new and old clients.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Bria Harris, and I am a self-taught freelance makeup artist in Orlando, Florida. Although, it took me a while to get to where I am today. I started my journey back in 2020, I’ve always been a fan of cosmetology and makeup as a baby. I once told my mom that I was going to grow up and be one. After my grandmother died in 2019, it pushed me to start my own business and do what I actually loved. After graduating from Bethune Cookman University, I thought it was time to actually do what I loved. I started practicing on my family members and friends. From there on out, my business took off with the help of God on my side.
I find it incredibly fascinating to be able to completely transform someone’s appearance with the power of makeup. I love putting a smile on someone’s face and making them feel beautiful and I love being able to meet new people. I see myself doing this for a very long time and I am excited for you all to witness my growth with me.
The services I provide are luxury Brial makeup, any type of event Makeup, as well as being a Makeup Artist on set. I also have Makeup classes where you can learn what product is good for your skin type and how to correctly apply it.
Some current problems i solve for my clients are showing them SKIN care is the best base for a great makeup application. What I think that sets me apart from other makeup artist is that i do this to always teach and serve Clients. I am never just in it for the money. I want to develop a relationship where you can trust me to give and provide the best services.
I am most proud of how far Beauties By Bria has Grown in the past two years, the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work That you will be provided with the best customer services. In which you Can ask questions and understand the work of art.

How did you build your audience on social media?
How I built my audience was creating social media accounts. As we all know the internet has the world in a chock hold. The most accurate and quickest way to build clientele is to market your business on social media. As for my brand my friends and family were my biggest supporters. Reposting and word of mouth can get you so many different clients. Actively posting at least once a day on your page is a great way to start.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Marketing your business. Passing out your business cards, going to networking events. Showing your work on social media
