Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bria Booker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
When starting a business, it can definitely be hard. You will have some who support you from day 1 and you will have others who wont even express the congratulations. It is very important to keep those friends and family close to you who continuously support everything you do. I have a many friends and family who have supported both of my businesses since the beginning and I appreciate them dearly. In my honest opinion, you shouldn’t have to ask others to support you, you just pay attention to those who support you automatically.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
To those who do not already know, I am a custom jewelry maker and I am also a nail tech. My brand is BlazinBeautyBoutique LLC. I have always had a passion for jewelry and nails. As an adolescent, I indulged in making bracelets with my mom and always drawing on my own nails with polish. Growing up, I didn’t take my passions very seriously because as a student, I didn’t think anyone would support any of my small business dreams. When I finally graduated high school, I knew the real world was ahead of me and I had to branch out and do things out of my comfort zone. During the pandemic I created my jewelry business and flourished in it very quickly. I begin to explore my other passion of being a nail tech at the beginning of 2022 and I have been continuously growing and loving everything I do. I expanded my first business by adding on BlazinFilez as an additional service from my jewelry making. I feel what sets me aside from many is that I juggle two businesses, work, and pushing to get my degree all in one breath so my dedication is a little stronger than others, and i’m also not doing it just for money. I enjoy putting a smile on peoples face, whether its adding an accessory to their outfit or doing their nails for a special event. It all brings me so much joy. I am most proud of breaking through my anxious habits and coming out of my shell. I couldn’t have done as much as I have if I didn’t explore life more and become more open to new experiences. I am mostly excited to see what my future in the nail tech business holds. I know in time I will learn many new things while being a nail tech and continue to grow business and clientele.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media is definitely not as easy as some may think. No matter what, continuously market yourself. Always tell people what you do. I personally have done many pop up shops to tell people what I do. Passing out business cards to people in public areas is also good for business. Continuously post yourself and your brand, you have to be your number one fan at all times to show people you’re serious about what you do.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe my personality helped me build my reputation in the market. Whenever I meet new clients, I want them to feel as comfortable as possible. I typically hold small talk so it wont be awkward when being in their presence. I am also very understanding when it comes to constructive criticism. If the customer has any issues, I do my best to ensure we can find a solution that completely satisfies them.
