We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bri Van Scotter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bri below.
Bri, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Wilderness to Table, has been the most meaningful project I’ve created to date, that is until my new venture, Be Saine, launches in early fall. My career started out as a Chef in fine dining and I have worked in some of the best restaurants in the world. I then became a culinary chef instructor and it was then I became passionate about teaching and knowing where my food comes from. I absolutely loved teaching students to cook, get creative and see them bloom into their own style. It was while I was teaching I would take my students to local farms to harvest seasonal produce. Then I would teach them how to create a seasonal menu. Then I looked at where our meat came from, and the more I was learning about our food industry the more I would get upset at the practices and conditions our factory-farmed animals lived in. I almost wanted to become a lawyer to help fight it legally. So I started hunting for my own protein. I then created my website, Wilderness to Table, all about wild game recipes. It started to gain popularity, so I thought the best way I can make a change is to get people to make a change through their dollars. If we stop buying factory-farmed meats and demand better living conditions for animals then big manufacturers will have to make changes to supply the demand for better meat. I also use my platform to share with others the health benefits of self-harvested wild game meats. I wanted to show that women can get into hunting and that it’s not just a mans “sport”. So through Wilderness to Table, I have helped people to turn to nature and the great outdoors for food, through hunting and foraging. I’ve also inspired women to become independent when it comes to sourcing food. One thing leads to another, and I don’t want to stop the train o healthy food and eating. So I formed a new company called Be Saine, where I will showcase healthy recipes, healthy lifestyle tips, and workouts. Changing the way people think about food is what I did with Wilderness to Table. Now I want to show people that eating real whole foods can change your life!

Bri, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, my name is Bri Van Scotter, I am a Chef, TV Host, Author, and Personal Trainer. I am passionate about food and healthy living. I am the creator of Wilderness to Table, where I challenge people to rethink where their food comes from and to turn to nature for food instead of the grocery store. I inspire people to hunt and forage for food, then teach them how to make chef-inspired meals at home. I am a two-time published author and tv host of the series Wilderness to Table. I am most proud of the fact that I am showing people that not all hunters are evil and that if you can eat meat you can hunt for it as well. I’m proud that I inspire people to eat real food, which then makes them feel good from the inside out, and that is what keeps me going!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Staying true to myself and not taking on every brand or person that approached me. I only take on brands that I truly believe in and I feel as though my audience see that.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Being a female in a male-dominated industry has always been tough. But you have to realize that you are much stronger than you think, and once people see that they will start looking at you differently.
