We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bri Sexton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bri below.
Hi Bri, thanks for joining us today. What’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
Building a team takes patience. You have to give people access to you and your time, truly see them as unique people and not just a cog. Give them a place to discover and nurture the best parts of themselves and in turn they become true assets to your team and company, and you build lasting loyalty.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Coming from team sports growing up, the switch to a gym/studio was easy. I started teaching my first fitness program when I was only 20 years old, and haven’t stopped learning and adding certifications to my resume since! I have certifications in 12 different modalities to date, and I am always looking to learn more so I can distill the best parts of each into the programming for our clients at BLAST- keeping it fresh and variable around the backbone of the tried and true stuff that actually works. But the biggest asset at BLAST is our community. The clients and the staff are all intertwined in a place of inclusiveness, where you can come as you are but leave a better version. It’s not just physical results we are pushing here, but overall empowerment and growth.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Be available, be genuine in your interactions and be patient. People are dynamic in their needs to thrive and being rigid only makes it harder on you in the long run. And give them structure… having clear (but high) expectations and the tools to reach them will help everyone be successful.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Stay humble. The ego is forefront in the fitness industry, but it has to be harnessed or it will be the fast rise and the fast flames of your career.
