We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bri Schillings. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bri below.
Hi Bri, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Co-creating with one of the most passionate and driven women I know,Nora Munoz. She founded a Non-Profit called Sharda Yoga Center, Cultivating children’s futures.
I was first introduced to Sharda as a yoga student at reUnify yoga, in Ocean Beach, owned by another power house,Nikki Rae Bose.
An invitation was extended in class one morning, announcing that Nikki and a group of volunteers would be heading across the boarder to Playas de Tijuana, Mexico to teach yoga to the kids from an orphanage.
As a child advocate myself,I did not have to think twice and immediately volunteered.
Many of these children did not have parents and were lacking in confidence and nurturing touch. Being there to hold, nurture, teach and attend to each child, with their own unique attention spans and emotions was a powerful experience for us all. We would end each class by partnering up with one of the kids, sharing massage techniques to help calm, rest and restore the body, mind and spirit. It became clear to me that we needed the children as much as they needed us.
We formed a bond and looked forward to seeing each other and learning together.
I began bringing my instruments, showing the kids how to play, sing, or at times, I would just play instrumentation while they shared a story or hummed. It was one of the most profound experiences of my life. Music is the bridge that connects us.
The pandemic paused our visits but I am beyond proud of Nora and her diligent work to reestablish Sharda in Rosarito, Mexico about 30 miles south of Tijuana in a barrio that has very little connection with the outside world. Nora has opened a computer and educational center, focusing on lifestyle skills, wellness, art and expression.
We are currently working on providing paint for the kids to design a mural at their new establishment and I am eager to return to the community, the children and support the amazing woman, mover and shaker, my inspiration and beautiful friend who has dedicated her life to building a better world for these children. Thank you Nora!

Bri, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Firstly, thank you, reader, for arriving. I am so curious about you and grateful you are here.
I am Bri Schillings, also known as Sweet Imperfections. I am a singer songwriter, nature lover, dog mom, experientialist, seeker of truth and deep soul diver, unlocking the meaning of life with my person, the love of my life, Brandon Sudweeks, in beautiful San Diego.
You can find me these days, in pre-production, in the recording studio, creating some tasty new tunes that are as eager to be released and wrapping their sweet melodies around you as am I.
We just wrapped up our new single “Wings”, an underwater music video, shot by a woman of underwater wonder, Jenny Baumert (check her out on Instagram @jenny.baumert) around Catalina Island. We will be releasing the video and song, late August.
Something you may gather from me is that I am bold. Free diving, nude in 40 degree waters in March to capture the vision for my music video is a perfect example. I also have badass friends who are as bold and continue to show up to my crazy ideas. I love you beyond!
In recent years I would consider myself an activist artist. My songwriting reflects Environmental & Climate justice and Mental Health by combining the creative power of the arts to move us emotionally to bring about social change.
I live for the human heart connection. I am reminded daily that everyone is going through something and compassion must prevail. I believe we need to get out of our own way at times so we may learn to expand our minds, beliefs, and what limitations may be keeping us from experiencing the best version of ourselves and each other.
I have a fondness for languages! Dabbling in German, Spanish, and at present, desire to learn Portuguese! Hit me up if you are inclined to teach or we can write a song as we learn the language. Music is also a language after all.
I am a nature and outdoor activity enthusiast. Backpacking, rock climbing, scuba diving, anything water(water is life) makes my soul purrrrr.
Thank you for Being! Now go have an adventure!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Heart Connection, community and sharing stories. I live for stories. Our history is a myriad of stories throughout time, woven together to bring us great understanding for where we come from, where we are going and who we are and choose to be in this world. Stories connect us, remind us that we are not alone and that we have a voice and story to tell. As a singer songwriter, it is not only a great privilege but a responsibility to use music, my voice to share stories through song. I am inspired daily through my art and hope it may in return, inspire you to share your voice.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Influencing change and rippling positive ideas. Art and culture are essential in society. Art can connect you to your senses, body, and mind; allowing people to explore ideas and evoke emotions. When we are educated and empowered, we produce change
Tavel, co-creation. Music in a way is like traveling, taking a journey to new places where I can explore, understand and express. Through travel, I also collect stories, experiences, meet interesting people, cultures, while expanding and connecting to this magnificent earth.
