Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bri Meejoo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Bri, thanks for joining us today. Is your team able to work remotely? If so, how have you made it work? What, if any, have been the pitfalls? What have been the non-obvious benefits?
I wanted to stand out when I created my eyelash extension business and noticed there weren’t any mobile lash businesses in the area. So I bought everything I needed for my set up and decided to do my service at the client’s house. It gave me a lot of leverage since people loved the idea of not having to drive to get their lashes done. A lot of my clientele are moms who can’t leave their house due to their kids needing them. I enjoy driving so it worked out in my favor. The only thing I learned along the way is to time my appointments accordingly due to distance and traffic.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Bri Meejoo and I’m a eyelash extension business owner. Before I graduated high school, my parents told me I needed to study something such as a trait or skill. I’m a creative person so I was deciding between fashion school or cosmetology. I ultimately chose cosmetology and graduated the program. It takes about 1600 hours to complete and while in school I realized how much I didn’t like doing hair. I finished anyway then tried working at a salon shortly after. I didn’t care for it at all so I left it on the back burner. Almost ten years later, a friend of mine encouraged me to do lash extensions. I thought it sounded boring and tedious at the time. She trained me a little and I actually ended up liking it. I job searched online and found a franchise hiring for a lash artist position with training included. I took the job and worked my way up to one of the top sales people. I became one of the best lash artists. Once Covid hit, I took some time to think about starting my own business. I bought all the supplies I needed and started posting ads on offer up, instagram and Facebook marketplace. I got my first clients from there. It took a lot of courage to take that leap of faith after leaving that job to starting my own business. I feared that I wouldn’t get any clients or wouldn’t make enough money. I’m so glad now that I did and it goes to show how much faith matters in going after your dreams.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started with instagram posting ads and paying for promotions. That’s where I got most of my clients in the beginning. I always take photos of my work and post them on social media. I created a yelp business page as well which is so important when having a business. Posting content on a consistent basis is key to growing your clientele.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Providing quality service is so important when building your reputation. I’ve always carried myself with integrity from the start. People talk and you always get referrals so I always make sure to do my best work on every client. Being professional, punctual and consistent is what built my reputation. I like a solid, loyal and respectful clientele.
