We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bri Becker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bri below.
Alright, Bri thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I was having dinner with someone about 6 years ago, they recently started a band, and out of nowhere they asked if I wanted to be their manager. I had zero experience but I couldn’t say no. Long story short; I fell in love with the business. I started seeing how the business side of things sort of swallowed up a lot of talent. With booking, press, promoting, negotiating, keeping up with social media, planning and all the other things that come with making a successful foundation for a band/artist; there’s not enough time for artists to create. This inspired me to help, it’s not the easiest endeavor; it’s very competitive. But helping an artist, whether it’s helping them get a gig, a spot at a festival or making a simple connection that will help them get to the next step; it’s the best feeling to provide that help.

Bri, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My main service I provide is booking for artists. I take a small percentage off the top of what I book; if the artist books a gig, they keep it all. I’m paid for the successful work I provide only. This is a labor of love.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Things can fall into your lap, but you have to put yourself out there.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There was a time I trusted someone in the industry that reminded me often that I didn’t know what I was doing and often criticized me in various ways. There may have been some truth in that, however; it wasn’t constructive, it was abusive. I fully believe that put a lot of resiliency into my craft. I’ve always had a good work ethic; however, this put a new spin on my resilience.
