We were lucky to catch up with Brette Peeples recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brette, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Going out on my own 100% was the biggest risk I have taken in my business. There was comfort, security, and reliability with working for a fitness company full-time and doing personal training here and there on the side. I have always beat to my own drum and knew fulling owning my own business was the direction I needed to go, but the unknown was nerve-wracking from time to time. Then Covid hit and all gyms and facilities shut down and I had to either sink or swim. I chose to swim and began teaching boot camps with no equipment in parks so that my clients could stay active and sane during such a crazy time and I could support myself. With boot camps, more and more clients were asking to hire me privately to train them. Then one client told another and it was from there that my business completely launched. I have never been happier with taking the risk of going out on my own. I am rewarded daily with the amazing progress and transformation that my clients make and I truly don’t “work” a day now.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Fitness has been my passion my entire life so I found myself continuously coming back to it or it always found me. While working out in the gym about 10 years ago, I was approached by a Cyclebar (boutique spin studio) recruiter asking me to audition for their new South Tampa studio.
Even with my zero experience on a bike (I had never even taken a spin class previously), she was convinced by watching me work out, that I needed to be at their audition. Fast forward to leaving the corporate world, becoming a spin coach in South Tampa, and then helping to open a Fort Lauderdale location, I fell in love with specialized boutique fitness.
Following this, I was hired to help open and manage a brand new Orangetheory Fitness in St. Augustine and from there, transitioned to Fitness Coach at their Nocatee and Jacksonville Beach locations. I truly loved my job and my clients and then Covid hit. All gyms shut down but like many others, I still had bills to pay, so I knew I couldn’t let this pandemic take me down with it so out of it, I started Hustle Empire, LLC.
I provide personal and semi-personal training, monthly boot camps partnered with Publix Greenwise in Nocatee, virtual training, and fitness plans. What was thought to be a tragedy turned into one of my biggest blessings and I haven’t looked back since!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe in making a positive impact and leaving a lasting impression on my clients. I want clients to be excited to work out with me and know that yes, it will be challenging but it will be fun and worth it. I feel that my positive energy and results-proven workouts and nutrition plans helped me to build a reputation of success in the area.

Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
I also sell my own custom workout shirts for both men and women as well as line of fitness hats.
