We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brett Copeland. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brett below.
Alright, Brett thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I have been passionate about singing and performing since my early childhood days. Some of my fondest memories revolve around singing in the church choir and participating in school plays. Remarkably, even at the tender age of 10, I would enthusiastically belt out tunes alongside the wedding band at family weddings.
However, my perspective on entertainment shifted significantly after I landed my first “real job.” I vividly recall the turning point when my agent summoned me to her office. She asked me to sing over the phone for a musical theater director in Canada who was on the hunt for an authentic Southern California rock singer for their show in Calgary. To my astonishment, I was booked on the spot during that phone call.
In the blink of an eye, my life transformed. I went from crashing on a friend’s couch to having my own hotel room, a rental car, and a three-month starring role in a musical review in Canada. Everything was meticulously taken care of for me. Suddenly, I had a steady income and a dedicated audience to perform for six nights a week. In that moment, I knew there was no turning back – my path as a professional performer was set in stone.

Brett, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Brett Copeland, and my musical journey has been incredibly enriching. I am a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist – I am primarily a rock artist. I’m based in the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles, where I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some extraordinary talents. What makes my experience truly special is the chance to work closely with Grammy award-winning super-producers, individuals whose expertise has shaped the sounds of legendary bands like The Rolling Stones, Jane’s Addiction, Alice in Chains, Elton John, Queen, and many more.
These collaborations have not only honed my craft but have also deepened my passion for creating music that resonates on a profound level. Currently, I’m immersed in the music industry, performing 15-20 shows every month. Sharing the stage with incredible musicians, including those from Guns N’ Roses, INXS, The Cult, and Chris Cornell, has been a dream come true.
Every performance is an opportunity to connect with my audience, and to share the emotions and stories embedded in my songs. It’s more than a profession; it’s a personal journey that allows me to touch the hearts of those who listen. With every note, I aim to create an unforgettable experience, leaving a lasting impact on anyone who discovers my music.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
A few months ago an older woman approached me after a show with tears in her eyes. She told me she has been partially bedridden for years because of pain.
She then told me that during and after my show she felt no pain for the first time in many, many years.. She thanked me, when – in truth, it was I who should have been thanking her. And I did thank her. Because compliments like that are divine reminders of why I do this.
Spreading the highest-vibes is the goal. It’s service.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I couch surfed for nearly five years.
