We recently connected with Bresha Haskins and have shared our conversation below.
Bresha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
It has been a purposeful journey creating a safe, secure and empowering space for my clients to be themselves, while embarking upon their wellness journeys at Haskins Healing & Wellness Center PLLC.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
After embarking upon my own personal wellness journey with mental health, I developed a deeper passion for helping others succeed in their wellness journeys. Haskins Healing & Wellness Center PLLC, is a private mental health practice founded upon purpose, compassion and empathy for all. I specialize in the following: Anxiety, Depression, Self-Esteem, Peer-Issues, Life Transitions, Psychosis and Communication. I believe what sets me apart from other therapists in the field is simply being myself, inclusive of my experiences, authenticity, openness and true empathy. Most importantly, my treatment approach is tailored specifically to each client’s individual needs.
I am most proud of and grateful for my clients choosing and trusting me as their therapist to walk with them through their wellness journey. I understand the critical role your support system has in your journey and I am committed to being one of my clients biggest cheerleaders. I believe in all of my clients’ abilities to accomplish their goals set, for their wellness journeys.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I learned the meaning of “giving myself grace.” During my personal challenges with mental health, I discovered I was not taking care of myself, in the way I needed or deserved. In taking accountability for disregarding my self-care, I had to practice forgiveness of myself for not being aware and/or acknowledging my needs. Therefore, instead of blaming myself, I began to love myself differently. Allowing myself, to simply be human and learn from my mistakes. Reserving that space for myself to feel safe and secure, even during the most challenging and uncertain times.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Wow, there are plenty. However, the one that impedes my mind is simply not giving up on my purpose and passion, to help others. I remember my battle with Anxiety, it caused me to doubt my dreams of becoming a therapist, more so would I make it? Remember, I spoke about giving myself grace, earlier? My anxiety forced me to take a year off from school, following my junior year in my Masters Program. I felt defeated. However, I was determined, not only for me but the clients I had yet to encounter. I knew my purpose and passion, were bigger than my circumstances. Such resilience affirmed the most important lesson, one can ever learn in life, how important and priceless you are in your own life. Never give up on yourself!
