Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Breonna Brooks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Breonna , appreciate you joining us today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
Hi my name is Bronna but in the creative community I am known as Thebrooksimpact. My creative journey has been a long line from studying fashion merchandising at Texas Woman’s University as well as spending some time learning about fashion in London and Paris the creative world has taken me on a roller coaster ride. And at one point I even found myself being sued by Model. In my world I believe that everything is an experience and it’s all about the way that you look at things and although some might see this as a negative thing this lawsuit landed me on television. Hi got to stand before Judge Mathis someone who I see as a huge part of black history and I won my case. One thing that I’ve learned to never give up and to enjoy every experience whether it’s negative or positive because at the end of the day it’s your choice in which direction it’ll go.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hello my name is Breonna Brooks but most people know me as Thebrooksimpact. I have love fashion since early childhood and went on to study fashion merchandising and marketing at Texas Woman’s University in Denton Texas where I was also granted the opportunity to study abroad in Paris in London. Soon after leaving the college I started modeling in the Dallas creative community just as a way to get in to the art community. Soon after I was noticed by a brand and hired as their creative Director and stylist no instead of being a model I was able to hire and create an image for someone else’s brand. I have now ventured on into my own realm after gaining experience and knowledge. After many hardships and losing everything and falling in love with sustainable wear I have now founded my own sustainable fashion company COPAesthetic Dallas. Often times as young adults we find ourselves falling into hardships and sometimes losing everything and I have found myself in that situation having to start completely over and not having the funds to invest in those expensive pieces every single day I was getting compliments on outfits that I had gotten from thrift stores I wanted to find a way to pair my styling ability with my love for the earth and the trials that God had put me through all into one brand and that is when copacetic Dallas was created.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is living by your own rules. I was always in trouble growing up for a dress code and even as a young adult and different career pass always getting in trouble for breaking dress code and just being different I never like to fit in. And being a creative been different standing our breaking rules is celebrated in that is the most rewarding part for me

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I was born with sickle cell anemia and at the age of 2 had a stroke. Doctors I’ve been telling my mother my whole life not to get too excited about anything because I probably wouldn’t live past the age of 16 years old. I missed a lot of school and had to take a lot of medication had people watching me in classes and it caused me to be made fun of and bullied. But it also caused me to find my voice and to speak out against bullying for standing out and getting educated on an epidemic that affects the black community so now I have a platform where I get to speak and be heard and educate and that’s just so exciting to me we’re just getting started
