Brenna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
At Xtreme! Marketing our mission is to add massive value through innovative marketing. Marketing Our mission is personal to our owner, John Tarn, due to his business and engineering background. The 2 key parts are innovation and marketing. These are the 2 things every business has to do in order to be successful. One of John’s favorite quotes is Peter F Drucker’s, “Because the purpose of business is to create a customer, the business enterprise has two and only two basic functions: marketing and innovation. Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs.” Due to John’s high belief in these 2 principals, our mission is to add massive value to companies through these 2 functions.
Brenna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
After our owner, John Tarn’s military service in the Navy, he started a business in college that helped pay for his tuition. This business was in the print industry. His Navy experience was in the technology field. From the meshing of these 2 fields (business & technology), John used innovation and marketing to succeed in all endeavors moving forward. John realized to succeed in life you have to market yourself and innovate constantly through change. This led John to start a company called, GolfSticker, Inc. in 2001. This would be the foundation on which Xtreme! Marketing was built. This is where John meshed innovation and event marketing to create a successful brand.
We are unique in the event marketing space as we are a full service event marketing company. Providing design, print, custom fabrication, mobile assets, promotional items, and event services to create unique solutions for our clients.
We also create custom signage and vehicle wraps for global clients.
Some of our clients include The PGA Tour, Jack Daniel’s, Frito Lay, Woodford Reserve, and iHeart Radio. As well as local companies like Lowes Foods to name a few.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Profit beats revenue. Cashflow beats everything. Without proper cashflow through your business, your business will fail. The bottomline is, know your numbers. John Tarn learned this through experience. Large revenue means. nothing, if you cannot forecast the cash through your business. Whenever he ignored this rule, the company had challenges.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Your assets become your liabilities and your liabilities become your assets. John Tarn explains this, we’ve gotten most of our clients by delivering when and where others could not. Sometimes this causes other problems to arise, which when solved, creates a stronger partnership. Problems are opportunities if handled correctly.
