We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brendon Rosenbaum. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brendon below.
Alright, Brendon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I am very blessed and lucky to be able to earn a living doing what I love. It has taken many years of truly figuring out what I wanted to do but I always knew it was going to be in the music industry. I grew up as a drummer and finally settled in with house music in the mid nineties. Bad boy bill sold me when I saw him perform at club Sol in downtown Atlanta circa 1995 ish. I went in to produce over 100 raves which led me to producing Future Fest in 1999 and 2000. But that’s a whole other story
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I began my career in music in 1994 by luckily getting a crazy tech gig with 311 for a small leg of their tour. Little did I know that I would fall in love with the whole process of producing events. From the lighting to the catering… it blew my mind. Fast forward a few years after I discovered the infamous rave scene in the 1990s. I found myself deep in the hustle of throwing these underground events with Dj’s going all night long. Fast forward to now. I’m the production manager and resident dj of the best venue in the city of Atlanta, District. Where I run a great production team running the day to day operations of everything sound, visuals, lights, lasers and even some artist development on the side. It is a blessing to work with such an amazing team at this venue. Everyone from the the door staff to owners is top notch.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Perseverance, self humility and drive.
There is nothing more satisfying then performing for a crowd. If it’s 10 people or 10,000 it’s what drives me musically. But the funny thing is that when I started there was no social media or texting or even cell phones.
We had pagers and very primitive email sites where you would find out events and such.
Now a days you aren’t just a performer. You are a graphic designer, social media manager, promoter, marketing director, brand developer and so much more. I realized this much earlier then most and started to build my brands via social media. whethwr it myspace back then or now IG, tik tok or facebook. you have to stay relevent.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes absolutely hands down. My son. I have to be successful in order to prove to him that you can, with out a doubt, follow your dreams and be successful at it. So far it has worked for me and if I can show him that he can do what he wants in life he can make it work for his career.
