We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brendan Lammlein a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brendan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think it takes a lot more to be successful than some may want to take on. No matter what you want success in, or what your definition of success is, there’s always sacrifices. I’ve found that the more you want, the more sacrifices you have to make. Success takes cutting out negativity, temptation and distractions even if it’s hard to do so. It takes long days and less free time, money spent to grow when there may not be much money to spend, a large amount of risk taking and decision making, and falling on your face multiple times before getting a positive result. Personally, I’ve had to distance myself from a lot of unhealthy people that never wanted to be productive, and I’ve had to spend money to maintain my business when money was tight. There’s a lot of days that I work until 11 PM and start the next work day at 7-8 AM. That’s why it’s important to find something you’re passionate about. It makes the long days worth it when it’s for something I’ve wanted since I was 10.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My interest in real estate was initially sparked by a lady at a gas pump that let me sit in her Maserati GranTurismo when I was in forth grade. I’ve always loved cars, and I asked her what she did for a living and she said, “Real estate.” I had no clue what that met at the time, but I started to research it. As I got older, I realized I had a love for homes and helping people. When I got my driver’s license at sixteen, I would drive around fancy neighborhoods and look at houses constantly. A week after my seventeenth birthday, I met my mentor and he showed me everything he does as a Realtor and real estate investor. Since I was involved hands-on at that point, I knew for sure that real estate was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I then graduated highschool and got my real estate license at eighteen. Now, I have the pleasure of helping people buy and sell their personal homes, and I help real estate investors find the right deals to build wealth. I’m most proud of being the youngest agent in Ohio when I got licensed and being able to consistantly provide my services to my clients. Everytime somebody decides to work with me, I go the extra mile to make sure they’re taken care of.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
It used to be hard for me to talk to strangers until a couple of months after I got my real estate license. This profession is a relationship building business, so now I take every opportunity to meet new people. It’s fun being able to connect with a lot of amazing individuals.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think the fact that I’m young and energetic sparks people’s interest when it comes to working with me. When people know that I’ve wanted to do this basically my entire life, and I’m not just in it for fun, it creates a sense of security. I’m around the clock and make sure everyone gets taken care of to the best of my ability.
