We were lucky to catch up with Brenda Anzaldua recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brenda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My entrepreneurial journey actually started with couponing and teaching people how to save money.
Years ago, I founded Saving Our Way because I was passionate about helping families stretch their budgets and become more financially secure. What began as sharing couponing tips quickly grew into free community classes where I taught people how to save money on groceries, household items, and everyday expenses. I was fortunate to be sponsored by the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle, which helped me reach a larger audience. I was also featured on local news segments where I shared savings strategies, couponing tips, and ways families could keep more money in their pockets, especially during the holidays and challenging economic times.
The most rewarding part wasn’t teaching people how to use coupons—it was seeing the confidence they gained when they realized they could take control of their finances.
As I continued teaching these classes, I started noticing a pattern. Many of the people attending weren’t just looking to save money. They were entrepreneurs, side hustlers, and aspiring business owners. They would stay after class asking questions about starting a business, marketing, networking, LLC formation, and finding resources to grow their ideas.
The more conversations I had, the more I realized there was a gap. Many entrepreneurs had great ideas and strong work ethics, but they didn’t always know where to start or where to find reliable resources and support. I saw an opportunity to create something bigger—an organization that could connect entrepreneurs with education, networking opportunities, and practical tools to help them succeed.
That realization led to the creation of Women Unlimited.
What excited me most was the opportunity to empower people in a different way. With Saving Our Way, I was helping families save money. With Women Unlimited, I could help entrepreneurs build wealth, create opportunities, and grow businesses that could impact their families and communities for years to come.
Today, Women Unlimited provides workshops, networking opportunities, business development resources, financial literacy education, social media and marketing guidance, LLC formation support, and connections to organizations that can help entrepreneurs take their next steps. We have been blessed to partner with incredible organizations such as the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Frost Bank, the Bexar County District Clerk’s Office, Workforce Solutions Alamo, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and many other community partners who share our mission of empowering entrepreneurs.
While Women Unlimited has become my primary focus, I still enjoy teaching couponing and savings classes whenever I have the opportunity. Most recently, I presented a savings workshop for more than 60 employees of Workforce Solutions Alamo in May 2026. I have also authored books focused on savings and entrepreneurship because I believe financial education should be accessible to everyone.
Looking back, I don’t see Saving Our Way and Women Unlimited as separate ventures. They are part of the same mission. Both were created to help people improve their lives through education, resources, and community support. The tools may be different, but the goal remains the same: empowering people to reach their full potential and reminding them that they don’t have to do it alone.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Brenda Anz, and I am the founder of both Saving Our Way and Women Unlimited San Antonio. My passion has always been helping people improve their lives through education, resources, and community support.
I first became known through Saving Our Way, where I taught couponing, budgeting, and money-saving strategies to individuals and families throughout the community. Through free classes, speaking engagements, media appearances, and educational resources, I helped people learn how to stretch their budgets, reduce expenses, and become more financially confident. I was fortunate to be sponsored by the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle, and I appeared on local news segments sharing savings tips and practical ways families could keep more money in their pockets. Even today, I continue teaching savings classes because financial literacy remains one of the foundations of long-term success.
Over time, I noticed that many of the people attending my classes were entrepreneurs, side hustlers, and aspiring business owners. They weren’t just looking to save money—they were looking for ways to start businesses, increase their income, and create opportunities for themselves and their families. Those conversations inspired me to create Women Unlimited San Antonio.
Today, Women Unlimited focuses on helping entrepreneurs and professionals access the education, resources, and connections they need to succeed. We work with people at various stages of their journey, from those who are exploring a business idea to established business owners looking to grow and strengthen their companies.
One of the biggest roles we play is serving as a resource hub for the community. Through workshops, networking events, educational programs, referrals, and community partnerships, we help connect entrepreneurs to the organizations, programs, and experts that can help them move forward. We regularly provide workshops on topics such as business startup fundamentals, LLC formation, financial literacy, marketing, branding, social media, leadership development, and business growth strategies.
What sets Women Unlimited apart is our focus on collaboration. We know that no single organization can provide every answer, which is why we have built relationships with incredible partners throughout San Antonio. Through partnerships with organizations such as the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), UTSA, UIW, Frost Bank, Workforce Solutions Alamo, the Bexar County District Clerk’s Office, and many other community organizations, we are able to connect our members to valuable resources, educational opportunities, mentorship programs, funding information, and business support services.
Rather than trying to do everything ourselves, we focus on helping people find the right resources and the right people. Whether someone needs help starting a business, finding funding opportunities, developing a marketing strategy, building professional connections, or accessing training programs, we strive to point them in the right direction and help them navigate the process.
What I am most proud of is seeing the impact these efforts have on the community. Whether it is helping a family save money through Saving Our Way, helping a new entrepreneur launch their first business through Women Unlimited, or connecting someone to a resource that changes the trajectory of their journey, those successes are what motivate me every day.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media didn’t happen overnight. Like many entrepreneurs, I started with a small group of people who were interested in what I had to share and grew from there through consistency, engagement, and providing value.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you do not need to be on every social media platform. Instead, focus on understanding your audience and where they spend their time. For both Saving Our Way and Women Unlimited, Facebook has been one of the most effective platforms because that’s where many of our community members, families, entrepreneurs, and business owners are actively engaging.
Over the years, I have built several online communities centered around different interests and needs, including couponing, entrepreneurship, and women’s empowerment. One of my largest groups, HEB Coupon, Digital Deals & More!, has grown to more than 125,000 members. That growth didn’t come from chasing trends—it came from consistently showing up, sharing useful information, answering questions, listening to the community, and creating a space where people felt welcome and supported.
My advice to someone just starting out is to focus on providing value before focusing on follower counts. Ask yourself: What problem am I solving? What information can I share that will help someone? People follow accounts that educate them, inspire them, entertain them, or help them accomplish something. If you’re consistently helping people, your audience will grow over time.
Another important lesson is to engage with your audience. Social media isn’t just about posting content and hoping people find it. Respond to comments, answer messages, participate in conversations, and build relationships. The strongest communities are built through genuine interaction.
I also encourage business owners to optimize their profiles and pages. Make it easy for people to understand who you are, what you do, and how they can connect with you. A clear description, consistent branding, quality content, and a call to action can make a significant difference.
Today, social media is constantly evolving, and tools like AI can help entrepreneurs save time and create content more efficiently. At Women Unlimited, we offer workshops and educational opportunities that help entrepreneurs better understand platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, as well as how to leverage AI and other digital tools to strengthen their marketing efforts.
Most importantly, be patient. Building a loyal audience takes time. Don’t get discouraged if growth seems slow in the beginning. Focus on consistency, authenticity, and serving your audience well. Followers may come for your content, but they stay because of the value, trust, and relationships you build along the way.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
If I had to pick one strategy that has been the most effective for growing my clientele over the years, it would be word of mouth. Even with all the technology and marketing tools available today, I still believe personal recommendations are one of the most powerful ways to grow a business.
For both Saving Our Way and Women Unlimited, growth has come from building genuine relationships and creating positive experiences that people want to share with others. When someone attends a class, workshop, networking event, or receives help that makes a difference in their life or business, they naturally tell their friends, family members, coworkers, and fellow entrepreneurs. That kind of referral carries a level of trust that advertising alone cannot replicate.
Social media has also played an important role. Sharing valuable content, staying active, and consistently engaging with the community has helped us expand our reach. However, I believe social media works best when it supports authentic relationship-building rather than replacing it. It’s important to find the platforms that make sense for your audience and focus your efforts there instead of trying to be everywhere at once.
With Saving Our Way, I was fortunate to be featured on local news segments multiple times, which helped introduce my work to a broader audience. Those opportunities, combined with relationships I built throughout the community, opened doors to teach classes in community centers, libraries, schools, churches, and through local officials’ offices and community programs. Every class became an opportunity to connect with people and create lasting relationships.
The same principle applies to Women Unlimited. Many of our opportunities have come through partnerships and connections we’ve built over time. We have worked hard to cultivate relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, business leaders, government agencies, and entrepreneurs. Those relationships have helped us grow our reach while also allowing us to better serve our members.
One piece of advice I always share is to network whenever you can. You never know where a conversation may lead. The person you’re speaking with may not need your product or service, but they may know someone who does. Some of the most meaningful opportunities I’ve received came from connections I never expected to lead anywhere.
Most importantly, be authentic. People can tell when you genuinely care. Focus on helping others, providing value, and creating a welcoming environment. When people trust you and have a positive experience with your organization or business, they become your biggest advocates. In my experience, that combination of authenticity, relationship-building, networking, and consistent community engagement has been the most effective strategy for sustainable growth.
