Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Breigh Hammel . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Breigh , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I am releasing my new single called “sosmall” and it is about my journey with producers, music industry executives, and managers making me feel like I was not good enough as is. It is an anthem for anyone who cares a little too much about what someone in their life thinks about them, and the power dynamic of wanting that validation, that “pat on the back,” but never getting it. The song is a zoom-out moment. A breakthrough, I realized that “Maybe that’s who you are. You love to make me feel so small.”
Breigh , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been writing songs since I was 11, and singing since I was five. Born and raised in NY, I write through the lens of my life, and others’ stories that stay with me long after I’ve heard them. I released my debut EP, “Manifestations of a Pop star,” back in 2023, and have been releasing a string of consecutive singles since March 2025. I am currently getting ready to release my next single, “sosmall,” super super soon, so stay tuned in :)
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
It’s always about the connection. People reaching out to me and saying they fell asleep listening to my music, or a song of mine, got them through a tough time. That is and will always be the most rewarding aspect of being an artist. The human connection, the viability that music gives, is the whole point. Sometimes you veer away from that because of external pressures, and the industry side of it all. But at the end of the day, art is a bridge, a way to speak to millions without ever meeting them. And that is magic.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I am fairly new to social media. In fact, for my entire life, I avoided it like the plague. But in the past year, I have dedicated myself to posting every day, and I finally understand why everyone always told me to do it lol I have grown a small but fierce fanbase on TikTok and Instagram, and have multiple group chats with the “slayers.” They are the first people I talk to in the morning, and the last at night. They have healed so many insecurities of mine and given me so much motivation to stay true to myself and keep going. I am eternally grateful for them all <3
