Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Breen Halley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Breen, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success to me is a happy client. I have the privilege of working with both individuals and companies and curating an event that meets their needs and reflects their style or company mission. To succeed in this satisfies me. From a wedding to a large corporate conference, my client’s image is what I strive to perfect through the guest experience and the smallest event details.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After college, I struggled to find what my dream career would be. I dabbled in public relations, writing, marketing, and brand management. Each job that I had after college always contained an element of event planning. One day it occurred to me that event planning was what I loved to do, and I had the core skill set for this, which is organization, an eye for details, and creativity. This realization led me to my next step, which was starting over and taking an internship with an event company, seven years after I graduated.
Once I started my career in events in Miami, I eventually moved to New York City, where I wanted to work with the biggest and the best. I moved to New York City without a job and just a dream, and I started knocking on doors. I ended up at an events agency that handled one of the largest financial companies in the world, American Express. I spent several years in agencies learning the ropes and working with luxury clients such as Cartier and Lamborghini. After COVID hit my industry hard, I reevaluated what my next steps would be and decided that I was ready to launch my own company, Halley Events.
Halley Events specializes in luxury event design and production for corporate and social events and provides full-service concept-to-curation event planning services. With a background in luxury brands, broad corporate knowledge, and experiential experience with high-level clientele, I execute a client’s vision with precision, creativity, and professionalism. My goal is to ensure that the event planning process is seamless, client-focused, and solutions-oriented. The result is an exceptional event experience that delights guests, elevates the brand, and provides lasting key results.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
When I started my own company, I found that I had to unlearn the life of having a 9-to-6 job. I had to restructure my schedule to fit around when I had to work and when I wanted to play since looking forward to the weekend was no longer what I needed to prioritize. I had to learn to say no to certain distractions when others didn’t understand that while I may be more available during the week, that doesn’t mean that I am ready to play at a moment’s notice. I also found that getting two weeks of vacation is not the same as taking a random Tuesday off for self-care because I could. I much prefer the ability to control my schedule and not be stuck in a traditional workday.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
My favorite thing to do is to take a client’s vision and put it into a mood board. Once I create a mood board then we can dive into what reality (and costs) will look like. I love to play on Pinterest and look to my own experiences such a traveling and my love for food and wine for inspiration and creativity.
