We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Breea Janay. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Breea below.
Hi Breea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
When it comes to executing your idea, I think Nike has the best slogan for the job; just do it. As a film director, it is very important to plan and strategize. Whenever I have an idea for a movie, it can take 6 months to a year before the idea can even come to life. The first step is to group email my team members of this idea. In which, the script writers will write the script within 2-3 months. After it is available, the producer and I will scout for cinematographers and other people for the job, and also determine our budget for the film.
It is important to note that I expect to fail in some areas, as covid can delay our plans for traveling; some scenes we have planned for the desert might have to be green screen or shot in Arizona.
After we gather the budget and find the actors and team members, another 2 months will pass as the actors need time to memorize the script and rehearse.
Next to last, we begin filming the movie, which could take a month if it’s a short.
Lastly, it is post production, and determining how many post members you have involved, this process can take 2-3 months.

Breea, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
On a base level I am a film director and celebrity content creator, but as any creative working in 2023, I wear many, many hats. I am also a runway model. I’ve walked New York Fashion Week in 2022, and I am expected to walk Chicago Fashion Week 2023. I manage a few artist and help develop a career in the music industry. I also work closely with Big Heff with Def Jams, and Bill Crane in media relations. My clients can rest assure that no matter what obstacle comes our way, I know how to make the best of a situation. I am not afraid to improvise, and I’ve never left a client unsatisfied. I also shoot film directing and screen writing content for beginners. I absolutely love the feedback that I’ve been getting from my followers and I always encourage them to reach out with any questions to help perfect their craft as well.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my willingness to help the general public has helped pushed my career. You have to be a genuine caring person of the craft in order to do so. A simple “how are you today” goes a long way before jumping straight to business. I also believe that coming from the west side of Chicago has created a very humbling and appreciative state to my approach. I understand what it means to live beyond my means, and having the chance to just live happily in my work, is a blessing. With this understanding, I am able to reach the public, and viewers see me as the people person I truly am. I care little for the money that comes with the job.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I recently shot a reality tv show for a celebrity, and it was by far the most challenging. We worked on the project for 72+ consecutive hours, with only one hour of sleep. Still, I kept my positivity, my professionalism, and got the job done. You can find a celebrity content creator left and right these days. Fortunately, there’s no one who’s more focused or more determined than I am. My work ethic proves itself again and again, and as a black female celebrity content creator, I have to triple down on my resilience.
There’s been many bookings where I’ve stayed up a consecutive 24-48 hours just to get the job done.
