We were lucky to catch up with Bree Sophia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bree, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I have always believed that if you work hard at something, consistently enough, you will find success. I think consistency is the key, and with this consistency comes extreme discipline, determination and resilience. Consistency means showing up and doing the work that is required of you even when you do not feel up to it, even when you do not feel motivated, even when you may not be seeing the results you want, even if you are experiencing a slower season in business. Keep going, keep showing up and keep putting the work in, even in these times (especially during these times).
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Bree and I am the owner of Bree Sophia LLC. I am a UGC Creator, Social Media Producer and Creative Strategist based in Miami, FL. In a nutshell: I help brands and businesses drive sales and grow their social media presence through converting paid ads and engaging organic social media content.
I have always been a very creative person that has always enjoyed taking photos and videos, so when I stumbled upon UGC in 2022, I immediately knew that I wanted to get into this field. I dove head in and fully committed to learning and gaining experience along the way. Three years later and it is now my full time job (I left my corporate marketing job back in August 2024)!
My business is currently divided into three different sectors: UGC (User Generated Content), Social Media Producing and Creative Strategy. As a UGC Creator, I create content for brands to post on their social media and to run as paid advertisements. I concept, script, film and edit these videos and create content for all niches – beauty, wellness, tech, fitness, you name it!
As a Social Media Producer, I manage full social media campaigns – from talent acquisition and concept development to video editing and final delivery. My Creative Strategy work takes things a bit further! I look into and analyze content to identify why it is (or why it is not) performing well. Based on this data, I learn and brainstorm different ways to optimize future content to give the brand better audience engagement and retention.
Honestly, I am most proud of myself for going for this in the first place. For actually doing it.. I took the leap and continue to do so every day. Building a business from the ground up has instilled so much confidence, wisdom and bravery in me that I did not know was possible. It has changed and shaped me in beautiful ways and I am so thankful that I get to do what I love every single day. I do not take any of it for granted.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One of my main goals driving my creative journey is freedom. Time freedom, financial freedom, the freedom to live and enjoy my life how my loved ones and I please. This life is so precious and beautiful, and having the freedom to spend your days doing the things you genuinely love, with the people you love most in this world, is what drives me every single day. It is true what they say: You work more hours when you own your own business than when you work a 9-5, but even then, it is enjoyable work that you feel lucky to have the opportunity to do.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
It did! I started my digital marketing business as a side hustle back in July 2022. I had also started a new corporate marketing job in May 2022 and juggled both for 2+ years. This took extreme discipline, commitment, sacrifice and resilience. I worked every single day for 2+ years. When I wasn’t at my corporate job, I was working on my side hustle. And whenever I could take a break at my corporate job, whether that was a bathroom break, my lunch break, any split second I had, I would be filming and editing videos, responding to emails, signing contracts, etc.
Perhaps a few months into this journey, I stopped referring to it as ‘side hustle’ and instead began acknowledging it as ‘my business’ and that simple word shift allowed me to really embrace it for all it was. I always treated it like a full blown business, even when it didn’t feel or look that way. Even in the early stages. I worked hard, consistently, for 2+ years and that side hustle eventually surpassed my corporate income. Once it did so significantly, month after month, I knew it was time to quit my 9-5 and go all in on my business. 8 months later, and I can confidently say that that was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
