We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bree McGee – Pryor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Bree, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
One of the most impactful ways we’ve demonstrated our appreciation for photographers and models who participated in our photoshoots was by creating a dedicated magazine to showcase their exceptional work. This initiative not only celebrated their talent but also provided a platform for their artistry to reach a wider audience.
The context behind this gesture is rooted in our recognition of the hard work and creativity invested by these individuals in contributing to our projects. We understood that a photoshoot is a collaborative effort, and we wanted to go beyond the standard expressions of gratitude.
By curating a magazine that exclusively featured the photographs and profiles of our talented collaborators, we not only acknowledged their contributions but also elevated their visibility within our community and industry. Each edition of the magazine became a tangible testament to their skills and a lasting keepsake of their involvement in our projects.
The impact on the photographers and models was profound. They felt not only recognized but genuinely valued for their unique perspectives and artistic contributions. The magazine served as a powerful tool for them to showcase their portfolio, garnering admiration not just from us but from a broader audience that had the opportunity to appreciate their work.
Moreover, this thoughtful gesture went beyond a one-time acknowledgment. It created a lasting bond and sense of loyalty among our collaborators, fostering a positive and collaborative atmosphere for future projects. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, with participants expressing gratitude for being part of an organization that not only values their work but actively promotes and celebrates it.
In essence, the magazine became a symbol of our commitment to appreciating and promoting the talent within our creative community, leaving a lasting impression that extended far beyond the confines of a single photoshoot.”
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Heyyy! I’m CaliburghBree, and I’m thrilled to share my journey and passion with you. My foray into the world of creativity and project management was not a linear path but a dynamic evolution rooted in my love for the arts and a desire to turn my passion into a meaningful career.
Back in my college years, I initially leaned towards a more traditional path in accounting. However, everything changed when I met my now-husband, Chon. It became evident that my true calling lay in a field where I could merge my love for creativity with my professional endeavors. This realization led me to explore opportunities within the dynamic realm of project management for artists and entrepreneurs.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of artists and entrepreneurs. One common thread I noticed was the need for effective organization and communication within creative projects. Many incredibly talented creatives yearned to focus on their craft without the burden of managing the intricate details of a project. Recognizing this gap, I stepped into the role of a creative project manager, ensuring not only the efficient execution of projects but also the development of clean and precise branding.
What sets me apart in this field is my extensive network of entrepreneurs with whom I share a strong rapport. This network allows me to pull in the right talents and resources to assist my clients, creating a collaborative environment that fosters creativity and success.
My background in graphic design, event planning, dance, and education provides me with a unique perspective. I approach projects holistically, not just as tasks to be completed, but as opportunities to craft compelling narratives and experiences. This multidimensional viewpoint enables me to see beyond the immediate needs of a project and infuse a deeper level of creativity into the overall process.
I take immense pride in my ability to transform chaos into order, ensuring that each project not only meets its objectives but also reflects the distinctive identity of my clients. What I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know about me is that I am not just a project manager; I am a passionate advocate for turning creativity into a seamless, organized, and impactful journey. I look forward to bringing your visions to life and making each project an unforgettable expression of art and innovation.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely, my creative journey is fueled by a profound mission. I aspire to establish a community and recreation center that serves as a hub for both professional and creative workshops. The overarching goal is to create a space that goes beyond conventional boundaries, offering support to the community through initiatives like giveaways, clothing closets, and food banks.
My vision extends further to encompass educational workshops, empowering individuals with knowledge about child development, community engagement, food insecurity, financial literacy, and more. The aim is to foster a sense of community and equip people with the tools they need for personal and collective growth.
Additionally, I envision this space as a haven for creatives, providing a platform for them to host events, photoshoots, and other creative endeavors. By combining community support with a vibrant creative hub, the ultimate goal is to establish a one-stop shop that embodies the spirit of community, fostering collaboration, growth, and inclusivity. This vision is the driving force behind my creative journey, inspiring every project and initiative with the goal of building a stronger, more connected community.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
As a project manager, navigating unexpected changes is par for the course. A notable instance comes to mind when faced with shifting deadlines and last-minute communication challenges.
In the realm of project management, I often find myself orchestrating multiple moving parts, including people and their roles. When deadlines change or impromptu communication is required, it all falls on the project manager to ensure the entire team stays synchronized. In such situations, flexibility is key.
There have been occasions when unforeseen circumstances, like unexpected cancellations or changes in team dynamics, demanded quick pivots. As the person responsible for the project’s success, it became crucial to adapt swiftly. This involved not only reshuffling responsibilities to ensure tasks were completed on time but also communicating these changes effectively to keep the entire team on the same page.
Being responsible for people means embracing flexibility because surprises happen. It’s my role to navigate these surprises seamlessly, making necessary adjustments to guarantee that, despite the hurdles, the client’s satisfaction remains paramount. Pivoting in the face of challenges is not just a part of project management; it’s a skill that ensures successful outcomes despite the twists and turns that may occur in the process.
