We recently connected with Bree Camacho and have shared our conversation below.
Bree, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
When I began nails, I was working at a salon where I mainly accepted walk-ins as my form of clientele. After about a year I realized that I would rather work independently. Little did I know this decision would be a life changing risk. Working as an independent nail tech, it’s extremely important to have enough clientele of your own to maintain a profitable business, which I didn’t have at the time. I gave myself 6 months to save and invest into everything I needed to start my business. I reached my goal early by getting enough products, furniture, and a space to work in. I also started to market myself and my business hoping to gain clientele. Although I was extremely reluctant, I left the salon and took as many clients on my own as I could. It started off slow while I was trying to build my name in the industry but I worked hard every day to prove myself as the artist and business owner I knew I could be. In less than 4 months I had a full schedule for months in advance. Some may say this was luck, but I know how much I had to sacrifice in order to achieve what I have. There were countless days where I got no breaks, hours and hours of marketing, staying up late most nights catching up on inventory, business inquiries, and setting new goals. When I started I didn’t realize how much work I would need to put in outside of servicing my clients. Things were crazy for about a year until I realized the chaos needed some structure. Unfortunately I had no mentor so every day was a new learning experience. 4 years later, my sacrifice didn’t go unnoticed. Even through a pandemic my business is still thriving.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Bree Camacho, I’m a 22 year old from the small college town of Athens, GA. I am a first generation Mexican-american and the owner of “Bling by Bree” nail studio of 4 years. My studio offers professional nail services including acrylic, manicures, pedicures, and press on nails. I have aways aspired to be an artist of some kind but never really thought of getting into the nail business until I was offered a job at a nail salon in 2018. When I began, the nail industry was starting to expand in ways no one saw before. Nail art was becoming a big thing but the supply wasn’t meeting the demand in the city I reside. As an artist this was something that came very easy to me, art and creativity has always been my specialty. I take pride in being able to provide any kind of nail designs brought to me. Staying up to date in the nail industry is important because there are new trendy designs every day.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Building a reputation is one of the key factors to being a successful entrepreneur, I realized this early on in my career. Word of mouth will bring attention to you and your name so you want your name to ring bells in a positive way. While I was building my reputation I made sure I was carrying myself professionally everywhere I went. When I would see clients/potential clients out and about I made sure to take the time to speak to them and answer any questions they may have with a smile. I take pride in my work and love what I do so I’m confident my work will continue to bring clients back time and time again.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I always encourage my clients to take pictures of their services and tag my business page for others to follow me or just to check out my work. Hashtags are a very useful tool to bring clients in from social media. For example, you can use hashtags that include the city you work in, the field that you work in, or the service you’re providing.
