Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Breau Hulke. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Breau, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
When you start a business you have to put in the time to grow. Starting out I was putting 14-16 hour days in to not only work my full time job that I currently had but also the hours I was putting in before and after work in order to be able to build this business. You have to make sacrifices that people close to you don’t always agree with but that’s what it takes.
For my type of business, being knowledgeable in our field is obviously the number one aspect of it but being personable I would say is number two. I build relationships with my clients and athletes so that they know they can put their trust in me to make them the best versions of themselves. If I just trained and didn’t have an open ear for them, those relationships would never be built.
Last but not least you have to drowned out the noise. Owning a business and being successful in it has it’s peaks but definitely has it valleys. You will fail and try again until you are successful with it. You will have people that tell you that you can’t and you will have to ignore them. There will be people out there that make up lies about your business and say rude things but you have to have a bigger back bone to drowned them out.

Breau, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a former Division ll athlete, I have always had a passion for sports and fitness. After college I started helping people for fun with lifting weights/working out and then it hit me that this was my calling in life.
From starting in the park, Champions Fitness became a full-fledged health and fitness business in 2017. We offer a variety of options from 1 on 1 training, small group training, large group training, athlete training all in our gym in Nicollet, or we also do online training that currently has 200+ members. We are teamed up with a nutrition company called ID Life Nutrition for all your nutrition and supplement needs. This is something we only recommend to our clients for optimal health.
Our mission in life is to inspire and motivate people physically and mentally by creating a memorable and comfortable health and fitness experience but yet push you to your max to be the best you. Whether you are just beginning to workout, a college athlete, or looking for an intense challenge, we have something for you.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Covid. I had friends and family come to me and ask if I would start online workouts when everything shut down. It went from 9 people to 200+. It was a game changer and I also realized how women don’t love to be in gyms and like the aspect of being in the comfort of their own home to workout!

How did you build your audience on social media?
Be consistent is all I am going to say.
