Breanne, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’ve always had a passion for creating art, design, and a love for typefaces. I started creating digital art using basic programs like Microsoft Paint and PowerPoint until my parents purchased more professional design programs. I was doing graphic design without even knowing it! At 18 years old, someone told me I should be a graphic designer. I immediately did some research and was amazed you could turn your passion into a profession and get paid for it! Less than 9 months later, I made the decision to pursue a formal education in visual communications. I moved from the Central Coast to the beautiful city of Ventura to begin my journey of learning Visual Communications at Brooks Institute of Photography. Three years flew by and I learned the ins and outs of graphic design and graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in 2005. At the age of 22, I began my career with a clear goal in mind – to establish my own business by the time I turned 30. I diligently worked at printing companies and marketing agencies building valuable skills and gaining experience along the way. However, it wasn’t until 2011 that things truly started to take shape. Recognizing the importance of networking, I immersed myself in various networking and mastermind groups, forging connections and seeking opportunities. With each interaction, I expanded my knowledge and honed my craft. Finally, in 2013, I took the leap and became an independent business owner.

Initially, my business solely offered graphic design and printing services, but as my business grew, I noticed many clients were also in need of web design, custom apparel, and promotional products. I previously referred these services to other businesses but realized this was an opportunity waiting to be seized. Determined to meet the demands of my clientele, I made the strategic decision to expand my business offerings. In 2018, I not only added web design services but also ventured into the realms of custom apparel and promotional products. This diversification satisfied my existing clients and also attracted new ones, propelling my business to new heights.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

Joining local networking and mastermind groups has proven to be the most effective strategy for growing my business. This approach has allowed me to connect with other successful professionals, learn valuable insights from them, and build trust with potential clients and referral sources.

For new businesses seeking growth, I highly recommend joining a referral networking group. This provides an invaluable opportunity to tap into a network of like-minded professionals, exchange knowledge and ideas, and leverage each other’s networks for business growth. These groups not only provide practical support and advice, but they also open doors to new opportunities and connections.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

I understand that many business owners attempt to create their own marketing strategies, but often find themselves frustrated with the time, effort, skill, and creativity it requires. Instead, I believe it is crucial to focus on the core aspects of your own business and leave marketing in the hands of professionals. As an experienced working professional, I understand the importance of leveraging your time and expertise effectively. By entrusting your marketing needs to a skilled team, you can ensure that your message resonates with your target audience and yields optimal results without the stress of managing it yourself.
