We recently connected with Breanna Geddis and have shared our conversation below.
Breanna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Yes! I have thought about going back to a 9-5 job plenty of times but I sit and think about the good things that comes with entrepreneurship. I believe whatever god has in store for me will happen as long as I’m continuing down the right path. I wouldn’t trade being a business owner for anything because I have the freedom to set my own schedule when it comes to my life and I can create the environment that I want to have for my clients.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a 25 year old licensed cosmologist and I’ve been licensed for 3 years. I love doing anything in the beauty industry. You meet amazing people from all over and build relationships with them. What sets me apart is the experience I try to give to my clients. I always make sure they’re satisfied with everything before leaving. I’m most proud of my journey and how far I’ve came. I started doing hair out of my parents house and now I have my own shop. The road wasn’t easy but well deserved.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn to keep business and personal relationships separate. You can love people but if you want to strive and go far into your business you will need to set guidelines for everyone to follow. Respect is everything and you set the tone for your business.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I would say I had to pivot my life once I became a business owner. I had to realize once you have eyes on you for good things that you’re accomplishing you can’t do things the same as the past. In order to elevate you have to change your ways.
