Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bre’anna Collins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bre’anna, appreciate you joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I’m aiming to build a legacy of love, resilience, and community impact. I want to be remembered as someone who not only overcame adversity but used those experiences to inspire and help others. Through my catering business, Genèse Catering and Events, LLC, I hope to leave behind a reputation for exceptional food, integrity, and the values I stand for—bringing people together, uplifting the community, and ensuring that everyone feels valued and cared for.
I want my story to show that it’s possible to turn pain into purpose, and my work to reflect my dedication to family, faith, and leaving a positive mark on the world. I hope people remember me as a person who gave their all to make others’ lives better and created something enduring that my son, Genesis, and future generations can be proud of.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m the owner and chef behind Genèse Catering and Events, LLC, a full-service catering company specializing in Cajun fusion cuisine. My journey into this industry began at the age of nine, inspired by watching my late mother prepare meals for our family and community. She loved using food to bring people together, a tradition I proudly carry on in my own way. Cooking started as a source of comfort and grew into my passion and profession after enduring personal hardships. This experience reshaped my path and pushed me to build something meaningful, not just for myself but for my family and community.
My business, named after my son Genesis, represents new beginnings and resilience. We offer a wide range of services, from event catering to custom menu planning. Our food is tailored to each client’s needs, ensuring a unique and flavorful experience. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or intimate gathering, we’re dedicated to delivering quality food, positive energy, and exceptional service every time. We solve the problem of providing not just meals but a culinary experience that enhances the event and leaves lasting memories.
What sets us apart is our integrity, unique cooking style, and the passion we bring to every event. We’re more than just caterers; we’re collaborators who take pride in making your vision a reality. I’m especially proud of the structure and values my brand represents—commitment, creativity, and community.
For potential clients, followers, or fans, I want you to know that my work is deeply personal. It’s rooted in my faith, my family, and my drive to inspire others. Every dish we create reflects love and dedication, and every event we cater is treated as if it were our own. We don’t just cook; we create experiences that bring people together and build connections. If you’re looking for someone who values quality, energy, and service, Genèse Catering and Events LLC is here for you.
As we grow, our mission remains focused on outreach and giving back to the community. My ultimate goal is to leave a legacy of kindness, unity, and great food that brings people together, just like my mother did.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The hardest lesson I had to unlearn was expecting unwavering support from friends and family just because they know and love me. In the beginning, I believed they would naturally be my biggest cheerleaders, but I quickly learned that support doesn’t always come from the people closest to you, and that’s okay.
The backstory is simple: when I started my business, I was filled with excitement and hope, assuming my circle would share and promote my work, show up to events, and help spread the word. But over time, I realized that wasn’t always the case. It wasn’t necessarily out of malice or lack of care; people have their own lives, priorities, and interests that don’t always align with your vision. Unlearning this expectation helped me stop taking it personally and allowed me to redirect my energy toward finding my people, the ones who genuinely resonate with my brand and mission.
This lesson taught me to focus on building authentic connections with clients and supporters who truly see and value my work. It also helped me develop a stronger marketing strategy to expand beyond my inner circle. Now, I appreciate any support I receive, no matter how small, and I remind myself that my vision doesn’t need validation from everyone to succeed. Letting go of that expectation freed me to grow and focus on the bigger picture.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Managing a team and maintaining high morale starts with integrity and leading by example. As a leader, your actions set the tone for the team. You can’t expect excellence from others if you don’t embody it yourself. That means treating everyone with respect, whether it’s the janitor, the manager, or the client. People notice how you treat others, and that respect fosters trust and loyalty.
Building rapport with your team is also crucial. Take the time to understand their strengths, goals, and challenges. Show them that you care about their growth and success, not just what they can do for you. Being there for your team professionally—whether that means giving constructive feedback, listening to their concerns, or celebrating their wins—creates a sense of community and shared purpose.
One of the most important aspects of leadership is sharing knowledge. Gatekeeping only stifles progress and morale. Train your team thoroughly and teach them the skills they need to succeed. Empowering others to grow ensures the cycle of leadership and development remains strong. When your team feels confident and supported, they’ll give their best.
Lastly, always lead with fairness and consistency. High morale thrives in an environment where everyone knows they’ll be treated equitably and held to the same standards. When you combine integrity, respect, support, and empowerment, you create a team dynamic built on trust and shared success.
