Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Breanna Carroll. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Breanna, thanks for joining us today. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
My first job in my chosen field was at a local Chiropractic office. I was fresh out of Massage school and I had quit my catering job in hopes of landing a job promptly. I took a massive leap of faith because I knew deep within that this was the path I was meant to walk.
After a few weeks of applying, researching, and manifesting (quite honestly), I was ecstatic to receive a call from the doctors office. I was in their office the very next day for an interview. To say I was nervous would be an understatement, but yet I knew I was going in the right direction. Like most fields, there are many facets within them and Massage Therapy is no different. It is common to find Massage offered in various types of doctors offices and pain clinics. I enjoyed the process of helping others find relief from their discomforts so working in this type of setting felt purposeful for me, and still does!
Fast forward 9 years; I look back on that time with so much gratitude. It was the perfect starting point in my career and provided me with so much experience and inspiration. I truly feel that it is so important when we are beginning something (or at any point) to draw inspiration from others and embody the traits that others we look up to are exhibiting. I worked so closely with these doctors and they are still people I love and look up to today.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I knew I always had a knack for listening and talking with others. The vision I had for myself and my work always included an avenue of helping people. In my first year as a Psychology student I became deeply fascinated with the inner workings of the mind and how we as humans sort of operate. I started asking more and more questions about the human body but some of the information I was receiving in the class setting was a bit limited. Down the rabbit hole I went..
I started cold calling various types of business such as Physical Therapists, Massage Spas, Chiropractors, you name it. Through my research I got in touch with a local Massage Therapy school and the rest is history. I put my college courses on hold and embarked on my massage journey pretty quickly after. I was on a quest for knowledge and continued to follow where I was being led.
At this time in my life, nearly 9 years later, I own and operate my own wellness studio, Golden Light Wellness, in the greater Palm Springs area. The services I offer include Massage, Reiki, Yoga, and Sound Healing. If you are interested in what some or all of those entail, please visit my website: breannacarroll.com
Massage was my first love and the other services truly did find me. I have been fortunate enough to study them all in depth and honestly, still do because there is always much more to learn. I feel as though my work evolves at the same time as I do. I think my business is merely an extension of who I am; so if I am living authentically with myself and caring for myself in the best ways I know how, my business will be a container to help others do the same.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
The openness towards self development and growth. I find that when I take care of myself, my relationships, etc. I can more fully show up in my work.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your firm or practice?
I worked hard to open a studio space that I could share with others. When I was certain that I wanted to own my own practice I began offering on-site services, such as mobile massage and on-site yoga classes. This was a wonderful way to meet people, build my clientele, and save money that I could then put into a space.
