We recently connected with Brayhia Marshall and have shared our conversation below.
Brayhia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
My mother was a School Teacher and my father a Corrections Officer. When I was around the age of 5 or 6, we were playing a game that would soon become a tradition, Charades. My father asked me to perform a scene from this movie that required me to put on his motorcycle helmet, lay on the ground, lift-up the visor and state the line. I did it and my mom was able to guess the movie correctly. The joy and excitement I got from that moment is what has led me to wholeheartedly pursue my true passion.
Brayhia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Brayhia Marshall and I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV and have two younger brothers. Growing up in Vegas is nothing like the glitz and the glam you may see in movies. We avoid the Strip and don’t frequent casinos, but we do have gambling located everywhere like in our gas stations. Acting and performing has always been a true passion of mine. I enjoy acting on Film/Television and Theater. I am always growing my craft and learning to be a better actor. I have also picked up writing as a skill and even have a few movie ideas I’m currently working on.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn is thinking that my natural talent would get me in the industry alone. My ignorance to developing my craft would have held me back not only as an actor but also as a person! When I decided to take acting classes to develop my craft, I had no idea the effect it would have on my personal growth as well. Acting helped me to fall in love with myself and I am a better actor for it. I am now always working on my craft to be better in all aspects of life.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to share my gifts with this world. I don’t want to leave this plane without the gifts God has bestowed upon me. This passion of mine will lead to my purpose. I hope to touch and inspire as many lives as I can with these gifts.
