We were lucky to catch up with Brayden Tabakian recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brayden, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I am definitely in love with what I do and wouldn’t trade it for anything! I worked a couple non music jobs when I was in high school. They were both in food and I enjoyed both of them, however, what I’m doing now is much more enjoyable. I can’t remember specifically the last time I thought about going back to something like that, but I do know that in the past it would come to mind here and there. There have been many moments in my career so far that have made me uncomfortable. The uncomfort was always a good thing though, because it helped me grow but at the same time often gave me thoughts of “would working a normal job be easier?” in my beginning stages. I think it’s a normal thing for all of us, when we are passionate and committed to something, to think about what it would be like to be doing something else, especially when things get tough.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the music industry at the age of 18 however most of my teenage years I spent only being a drummer. I’ve played drums since the age of 13 and my goal for life was to be a professional drummer. As the years went by I then had the idea of singing. I was hesitant for a long time but then ended up giving it a try and today I do it full time. Now I make music that I love and having drumming in my arsenal has helped a lot with my music making ability.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
To me the most rewarding aspect, is being able to create something, put it out to the world, and get a response. The most rewarding response is someone loving the song or being inspired by it. At the end of the day I just want to inspire and love other people and the way I show that is through what I create and put out to the world!
How did you build your audience on social media?
I started posting on youtube when I was 13 but It wasn’t until I was 16 when I started posting on tiktok. Tiktok and quarantine, like for many people, was the true start of everything for me. I posted drum covers daily and that’s what caught the attention of many people who are now my fans.
