Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brayden “Jinx” Lopez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jinx, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I started writing music at 8 years old, I used to sit in my dads living room in California and just write, when I went back home to Michigan I wrote more, I didn’t start recording until I was 17, and I’m glad it took me a while to start, I got to have a childhood, I got to experience life
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well since I was a baby, I always had music surrounding me, my dad was always blasting Jay-Z, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr, Dre, & Wiz Khalifa, my brother played indie music, and my sister played punk, like blink 182, My Chemical Romance, & Sleeping With Sirens, it wasn’t until I heard Eminem’s album Recovery I wanted to pursue rap, I started writing, whatever I could write on, I wrote on, when I turned 12 my school had a talent show, and I performed in it, after that I started preparing for an album, unfortunately since I was a 12 year old kid I didn’t know the first thing about the industry so it never got made haha, 5 years later I started working on my first EP Studio 1, and it wasn’t my best, my next project wasn’t either, I’m working on my debut album right now and another EP alongside it, out of my overall endeavors, I’m more proud of my perseverance, I work on Hip Hop, Alt Rap, Lyrical, & Punk Rock, my brand is just Me, every song I write is me,
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Whenever I hear from a fan “your music has changed my life” or “your music saved me” it means a lot to me to hear that my music touches people, and helps them
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Stop Using AI haha, By far the one thing that kills an artist is AI, and more and more AI rappers are popping up, and getting placed on labels, everyone can see through it, nobody listens to it, you can’t draw music from life if there’s no life lived haha
