Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandy Carr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Brandy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I learned how to cook at a very young age when I used to take care of her younger siblings at times when my mom was severely sick with asthma. That is where i found my passion. My love of cooking and caring for others led to a long career in nursing facilities as a Dietary Director. As my love for cooking grew, E.A.T. LLC was born. which stands for Excellence Acquired Taste Named after my son (it is his named spelled backwards), TAE when he was younger I would call him down to the dinner table by saying “TAAAAAEEEE come E.A.T.” I try to inpsire my community At E.A.T. we specialize in preparing food to make your soul happy!
Whether it be a delicious gourmet meal for a large or small event, wedding, birthday, graduation party, etc., we do it all!!! Our delicious dessert menu is great for
any day. My customers go crazy daily for our sweets!!! Nothing makes my heart smile when I see that smile on my customers face when they come to pick up their cake or the when they bite into their food and their entire face lights up! I really love when they make a recipe from one of my e- cook books and tag me to show me how it turned out!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I attended Northwest High School in Indianapolis, IN. I try to inspire my
community through hard work, inguinity, entrepreneurship, and of course the LOVE of Food! I strive for excellence as I know perfection does not exist I go above and beyond to make sure I bring my customers vision to life the smallest details they tell me I find away to incorporate into their order especially on the cakes. I receive so much positive feed back not only on the quality and taste of my work but also on the customer service that I provide. I understand that my clients work hard for their money and I want them to feel like whichever item they order was worth every penny from start to finish.. I’m proud of each order I’m blessed to complete if it’s not right it doesn’t go out and I will spend countless hours making it right! Before my customer receives it.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I was already known at work by Doctors nurses, cna , dieticians , administrators etc. you know everyday people that I worked closed with in my career as a dietary director for I mean I was really known for Great food. When I cooked everyone wanted to E.A.T. So when I decided to start my catering company. The first thing I did was tag all them on social media and the response was amazing! The orders began rolling in immediately
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m constantly pivoting, trying to stay on trend, being able to pivot is so important especially in this economy because everyone can’t afford 100, $200 $300 cake and I understand that but most people can afford a 20.00 E- Cook book creating mine was so worth it. Not only am I making passive income but I have real life people loving and making my recipes in their homes!!! It’s so rewarding! Being able to pivot is imperative , especially in business, Another Major Key is to know your audience , your customers and your community.
