We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandon Wheeler a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brandon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
Hope’s definition: A feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen or a feeling of trust. As a Christian, I hope in His promises of redemption and return. As far as myself, hope is something I’ve always had for various reasons. But legacy? Hard to look into the future for what we want, best thing is to try to do our best now that affects it.
If people see me as trustworthy and one who cares for others, awesome. The big thing is that the Lord finds me faithful to Him, and that in my walk with Him I do my best, and if I can bring others to Him and inspire others as well, then I’ve met my goal.
For my writings in my life, I hope for a couple of things. I don’t want to be the greatest or best out there, it’s debatable by your tastes of what is “good vs bad” anyway. If people are entertained by my stuff, then that’s good with me. I want to bring people what I think are good stories to share, and if they like them, and want to share them with others, then I’m happy with that.

Brandon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Brandon Wheeler, and was raised in Georgia. Ever since I was a young child, I had a love for reading and watching movies. Other than God’s gift of creativity, they inspired me to develop my talents. However, I put off everything for a long time to focus on other aspects of my life.
Many years later I thought to get serious about writing again. I’ve written one story that I will be publishing soon. With this debut, I’m hoping to greatly expand my writing and become a prolific writer that people would enjoy reading. It all starts
somewhere, the first step is the hardest, but it’s an exciting journey I’m committed to. Like other aspiring writers, I want to take the chance to inspire others.
I plan to write a series of fantasy stories. From there I will adventure out into mystery, children & more faith-based stories. The goal is to have a catalog of stories for people to enjoy.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Two things mostly. On one hand, I want for certain stories to be faith-based and bring people to the Lord. On the other hand, I want to offer good stories that people will enjoy. It’s okay to just be able and sit back at times to relax. Some use TV, movies, and games, but a book doesn’t change quality as it’s written permanently. You can read the same story over and over again and not get tired of it. It’s why certain books are revered or beloved by so many for this reason.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Writing information guides online. What I mean is looking up how to write, looking at articles, videos, etc; All on what to do on the writing side of things, publishing, the work involved, etc.. If I knew about all that perhaps I would have made things years ago. There are many places to go to ask questions on topics or to read about what to do about things, it has become very helpful.
