We recently connected with Brandon Smith and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I wish I had stood in myself more. I’ve always known I had the voice, the passion and the talent. I just didn’t apply myself to the extent that I could’ve because of familiarity or how it may be perceived. However, everyone always says…. You got it!
Brandon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an up and coming musician from New Orleans, LA. I want to create music that you can feel and that evokes emotions of liveliness, Of course, I am a gay man but I believe music is meant to transcend across all platforms and cultures. Starting off on the journey, it takes a lot to balance if it isn’t your full time. Keeping my life afloat and working on my craft can sometimes cause stagnant positioning because of finances or things of that nature. I am most proud of this year, I released my first full body of work and I recorded a video, which are two things I couldn’t have foreseen.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of crafting music is the storyline. The writing, the instrumental, recording, refining and then being able to share it with people. The receptiveness of it all is very rewarding.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built most of my audience through authenticity, I don’t mind standing in who I am. I’m a man of good appeal, good humor and I’m amped about life. I will say that this is also my weakness, because I don’t want to lose people by offering too much. That over feeding kind of experience if there isn’t this mass variation.
