We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Realmonte recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
Fail early and often. I think most creatives spend too much time thinking about doing something, planning to do it, but never actually follow through. I have been guilty of this more times than I can count. In my opinion, there’s nothing more valuable than experience, and learning from your failures is typically the most impactful experience you can get.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I began my professional career at Zoom in 2015 as the first design hire on the brand and marketing team. Over the nine years I spent there, I learned so many valuable lessons in life, business, and design.
Being part of the team that built one of the most recognized brands in the world inspired me to start my own business — with one goal: to help brands grow and make them look great while doing it. Today, I offer branding and web design services, with plans to expand into photography, film, motion design, and other creative mediums. My experience inside a hyper-growth company has given me firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities that businesses face at every stage. I bring that experience to every project, helping brands of all sizes navigate their next chapter with clarity and confidence.
Having worked with many agencies, some good, some not so good — I set out to build a studio grounded in a few key values: be genuinely good to people, stay down-to-earth, and create the best work possible. I treat every client with the same level of respect and creative dedication, no matter the size or scope. Soon, this team of one will grow into many — all united by the values that define Realmade.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Plain and simple — posting my work and telling people what I’m doing. There’s a designer I follow who always shares the quote, “Post the work you want to get hired for.” It sounds simple, but it’s absolutely true. The best way to attract creative work is to show your ideal clients what they need. If you don’t have those kinds of projects yet, create passion projects and share them as if they were real. It’s about putting your vision out there so the right people can find you.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, it comes down to two things. First, I genuinely love the process of solving problems through creativity. The challenge of finding the right solution and turning it into something tangible is incredibly fulfilling. Second, delivering that work to a client and seeing their excitement (or the real impact it makes) is one of the best feelings. That combination of personal satisfaction and meaningful connection is what keeps me inspired.
