We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Newell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so one thing we think people don’t talk about nearly enough is investments – either time or money. What’s one of the best or worst investments you’ve made and what did you learned from the experience?
The best investment I’ve made I believe would be myself. I bet on myself and tripled my worth, things got tough at time and I almost gave up but you either work hard for your self or put in the work for someone else so I chose me. I was working my last job in corporate America before I left and chose to work for myself I found myself continuously calling out of work to go to shoots things started to pick up so I left it wasn’t an easy descision but we made it work

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started as photographer I didn’t have anyone to take photos of, so I would just walk around and take pictures of things that I found interesting I started honestly taking pictures of Flowers because I thought they were beautiful subject. After that I decided to reach out to people and have the model, but that didn’t work out too well so I decided to take pictures of my friends. I decided to go to the studio with them and they told me to hit the record button and since then it’s been up with videos. Right now the services that I provide mainly focus on working with small businesses small and large businesses honestly, I’ve worked with brands like Nike Jordan Eastside Golf Gucci Marni Fendi I work with a few social media influencers I also work with a few Restaurants such as ChicABoom Kingston, 11 Sapo Thai K-pot USA as well as being a multi published international photographer Doing high fashion shoots and working with various models all over the country I feel like with separates me the most from different creators is just my mindset like the way I perceive things the way I look at things my attention to detail. Those things are very important. My vision on those things varies from other artists.. I believe most proud of myself for never giving up not quitting. I’ve been working for myself full-time for six years now it hasn’t been the easiest journey in the world, but I am grateful for my clients businesses. Anybody that’s ever booked with me. Worked with me because without any of them, there wouldn’t be me so I’m grateful for everyone that’s chosen to work with me because they could’ve worked with anyone else in the world, but they chose to work with me.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One story that I feel like could represent or illustrate our resilience within my career would be I remember one winner me and my boy we had a shoot and it was about normally on a good day would take about 20 to 30 minutes to get there, but there was a bad snowstorm that started when we were on the road so I had to get out and push my car six different times Just to get to the shoot, but we didn’t quit. We didn’t give up. We didn’t tell the client go home. We made it to the shoot and made it happen.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I remember a big pivot in my career big shift was when I rebranded from third eye vision to Alexander Bolt. It was a big change for me. I wasn’t sure how the rebrand would’ve impact my growth as a business owner I was worried about change. I Was very nervous, but I’m so glad I did. I had many doubts for changing my name and those times when I didn’t want to.
